The boxes at stevens have right angle coping. round coping is a lot better and David said there would be a while back.
 
My statement was that we would not buy any square tubing for the sliding surfaces. Replacing all of it as it stands would be a huge job.

after reading two pages of whining from you all I am publicly announcing that I will visit Seattle In December to put a smile on your faces. Except Billy and Grant, because all they do is complain about how snow is cold. I can't fix them.

Ya, I thought I would go take a look this weekend so I could see where all the rocks are so when it actually snows I will know where to ski to avoid core shots on my brand new skis....

I have also started planning my December 8th pow day...

After reading this thread I feel like a lot of you don't think very highly of stevens but you definitely seem to know how to have fun. I'm trying to transfer to UW from Idaho and was wondering specifically about stevens park. It actually looks kind of fun to me but I don't know shit about it other than a few pictures I've seen and incredibly varied opinions. Any advice would help, thanks.
 
Literature is the day park manager, he can shed more light on it then I. I don't ski park, since I hold it right down there with voting democratic on the good ideas list, but as far as my observational skills go, I would say it is a decent park, where the misguided youth can have fun and improve, but it certainly does not rate with the summit county parks, or T-Line and Whistler.

David (literature), despite being a poetic democrat, is not a piece of shit, and takes pride in his work. He makes sure things are squared away. He also happens to be one of the nicest guys out there and is always down to help out those looking to have fun.

I like skiing Stevens, I have spent seasons where I called Stevens, Alpental and (gasp) even Crystal home. I have played around at baker. With things the way they are Stevens is where I will find myself skiing. I would ski at Crystal if they let me go on killing sprees every once in a while. That place needs to be thinned out on a regular basis.
 
YES. All the fucks that lay their skis down in line then sit in the lodge drinking their coffee need to die. I think a day needs to be organized where non-Crystal locals show up and just toss their shit out and actually wait at the front of the line.
 
Been there, done that.

There was a day last year where I was at crystal with a bunch of co-workers. It was a powder day, but I was tired (I skied 2+ ft of fresh at Stevens the day before). We went out to the loft 20-15 minutes before it opened, and there was a bunch of skis arranged on the ground. I went to the front, tossed a few pairs of peopleless skis to the side, and got in behind maybe 10 people. My co-workers followed suit.

About 2 minutes before the lifts were scheduled to open the people who owned the skis came out, and found they no longer had a spot in what was now shaping up to be quite the line. They bitched, we ignored them, they bitched some more, I told them to go fuck eachother on the gondola, they either did that or went to the back of the now even longer line, probably bitching. We got on the lift.

Stevens Park has traditionally had some of the best jumps in the northwest, and that won't change this season. You will see a lot more jibs than we have had in the past. Tline holds it down for jib features and length of operation, and Whistler has the parks that you'd expect from a megaresort, but I think we're probably a close third by virtue of the jump quality and maintenance. I'd include Bachelor and Snoqualmie in an assessment of the PNW's parks too.
And while the parks are good here, the best thing for Seattle area people is that Stevens is one mountain that has it all: elevation to dodge more of the rain, no need to switch places to shred park or pow, plenty of slackcountry and hiking, and 450" annually.
If the Tourism Board gets offended, I might point out that this is a thread about Stevens Pass.
 
This thread needs lots of pictures and shit this year. I was disappointed in the lack of pictures. Fuck, there used to be a great picture thread every year in Washington regionals~
