We've kicked around the idea of having jib sponsors for quite some time, but the issue lies with branding and advertising. It's been explained to me that the Forest Service (with whom we partner to run the ski area) will only allow Stevens Pass logos to represented on the jibs and such. Obviously, Hoedown Throwdown is an SPSS event, so there's some wiggle room there. Hence the massive skulls.
We're working on changing up the jibs though. The name of the game with building safe features from a risk manager's standpoint (i.e., building features that don't create and can withstand lawsuits) is consistency. So, for example, an entire park of metal rails and only one log jib would render the log jib as an inconsistency, and thus a liability risk.
There's a plus side to this, though, and that is that we can create our own consistency by building a number of the new features. Currently, we're working more log jibs, because that's a project we've started. If we make more of them, then we create a consistency profile in the park, hence minimizing our risk. We'll see how this goes, but please do know that we're working towards newer, creative, challenging stuff that we haven't seen before.
Two other IDEAS (and I stress that these are just preliminary ideas, so don't quote me on them or get mad if they don't happen for one reason or another) that we've had are building a junk jib garden (corrugated, pvc, tires, barrels, jersey barriers, and so on) or bringing in/enlisting some people that are handy with a can of spray paint to add some flavor to our jibs instead of the boring green and blue.
