Hey I just wanted to address a rumor about the old TPC (terrainparkcrew) coming back to stevens. Well It was almost true, yes Matt has taken a different job at stevens and Mike (me) was thinking of coming back to manage the park and eric and kris was going to be there and maybe b-rad? But unfortuntly Stevens got to me too late and have already been talking with a few different resorts back in Tahoe and other area's, so it's propably not going to happen. not saying no but the chance is slim now. Hope this clears up any questions or rumors and you guys have a GOOd winter this year. lata TPC

 
well a terrible selection of stuff with a great park crew still means a mediocre park.

and so far it seems like the selection isnt there... nor the crew...

Yeah well thae crew waould have been really good and yeah not too sure what stevens was going to kick in for new rails and such.. so we would have had to make do. but if we would have been able to have a good budget then it would have been the best park Wa. as seen. thanks fro the intrest guys.

 
the manager of the mountain needs to let the park crew do shit to make the park nice... I'm sure they wanted to make it nicer but I don't think some of the Stevens people really care about the park... YAY

yeah the park crew (the old TPC) cared for the park not to sure if the new one will, all the old TPC are gone now and aren't coming back, and the couple of people the hired last yr moved away to cali. And as far as the sponsorship for the park goes, trust me I've tried doing that like 2yrs ago. The forest service won't allow it, no banners or signage on hill or rails or on park signs during reg. operations only during events... and no sponsor is willing to kivk down that kinda $$ for little or no coverage.

 
^huh? doesnt snoqualmie have a wallride that says quite clearly "OAKLEY" across the top? i dont think they did that for the hell of it...

commercials, radio and tv, brochures, trail maps, lift tickets, website, whatever, you could plaster whatever name. its still an easy advertisement to 3+million people

As far as snoqualmie goes, yeah they can have sponsors, they aren't under the forest restrictions stevens has. thus no sponsors for stevens. or $$

Plus stevens is owned by it's self snoqualmie is onwed by boothcreek resorts (lots of $$) COPRATE

 
there seems to be a lot of contradiction through this thread so I'm wondering who the hell actually knows what they're talking about and who maybe heard some rumors...

^^but i thought stevens was owned by Harbor resorts...and they're definitely all rich and corporate

yeah stevens is owned by habor which is a realstate Co. but nothing compared to booth creek resorts. And yeah shasta probably does have better rails now cause some kid and his parents sued stevens over the 40ft rail (2piece rail) and now stevnes can't have any 2 pice rails, so nothing longer then 20ft. And now they don't have anyone qualified to design or make real rails, matt hasn't been making rails long and only nows how to build flat ones.

 
Funny, I can think of a nearbye resort that has plenty of single piece rales way longer than 20 feet

 
yeah no kinding, apparently you didn't understand what I said. Matt doesn't know how to build anything but flat rails. And yes you can make rails longer then 20ft but you have to weld them together ( steel comes in 10ft,20ft, 40ft lengths) and he hasn't made anything but flat rails, hense nobody that knows how to design/build real rails.

 
i bet theres a billion kids who know how to weld, kink, and bend rails better than matt, who would kill for a job as part of the park crew

other people say matt is incompetent, also, if he's this shitty, and he still hasnt been fired or isnt dead, then stevens is screwing up by not doing something about it.

there are bound to be many people that can weld rails. this 15ft shit isn't going to get people to visit the mountain.

 
well as far as stevens screwing up thats between stevens and matt if your not happy with how things are going at your resort..let them know. and yes the kink was 2 pieces welded not hinged (2 pieces "rails" bolted together) and the problem stevens has is no way to transport a 40ft+ rail to or up the hill... thats the biggest problem. You cant just put a 40ft rail on the front of a cat and bring it up the hill (width of run and trees + wieght), thats why they had the bigger rails in two pieces sections before (battleship, 40ft, etc.) And yeah it's not that hard to weld, but it is as far as getting a strong weld that will hold with all the movement from the cats and being set in snow all the time, and they wouldn't just let some kid do any welding up there.

 
I really don't know shit about making rails and moving them all over the mountain and that other bullshit.

But I do know snoqualmie has single piece rales that are really long and they obviously have a way to move them around. I believe it is way within Stevens Pass's abilities to do the same. I got tired of hearing excuses from stevens pass along time ago so I decided to not purchase a season pass there this year.

 
^^yea thats a very good point, but then, when you think about it, snoqualmie has alot more room to move rails and shit around because their mtn. is pretty much clear-cut of any trees and other natural "obsticals". i see where mike is comin from on this, but i also think that stevens should get some 40 footers, weld them, and any of the longer rails between the pipe and brennans trail. its only about 50 yrds from the workshop, and ther's pleanty of transportation room.

yeah that is the main reason snoqualmie can put up lager rails plus they might have a trainer? thats what stevens needs. Thats what we used at Heavenly down in tahoe. Yeah like I said if your not happy with the resort don't go there, and I'm not making excuss's for stevens just getting the fact's out there. But I do agree they could have some longer rails by the pipe or they could invest into building a snow trainer for hauling large rail up the hill. The question is will they??

 
Excuses, that's all they have.

Nothing will change my opinion that stevens has the resources to build the best park in the PNW. They simply choose not to allocate any funds and not hire a terrain park manager with a vision.

Where there's a will there's a way.

Unfortunately Stevens has no will.

 
just tell them to go out at night and chop down some handrails and bring em back for our jibbing pleasure...but on a serious note, i think that if they "cant" build rails or good rails atleast, they should just maintain the jumps all day (similar to what big white does, where they have park dudes with rakes chillin around the park, and raking the jumps/takoffs every half hour or so. also, maybe they could maintain the pipe more often so its not always crusty honeycomb chunky poo.

If 20 ft. flat rails kept me entertained all day I wouldn't have anything to complain about either.

they need the old tpc back from '03, the chick that was on there was hot!!!!!!!!! and she ripped and none of that girlie girl shit.

 
as chris mentioned, stevens certainly has the resources to make the best park in the PNW, but that potential is not being siezed. When i got the survey in the mail, i filled it out, and sent it in with a bunch of other stuff; i was sure to let stevens know what they lacked, what they could use, and what to look at. I was sure to note the whole "we want to build the best park possible" at the bottom, or whatever it was. you dont build the best park by saying stuff like "oh yea, the park is so rad" when it isnt, because all that does is encourage this mediocrity. Even when it is rad, it could always be better. What does help is constructive criticism. However, when even that fails, or seems to do nothing in any way shape or form, it irritates people, such as myself.

Even on the website it fucking promises the best park in washington, along with the other shlock on the park page... about all the new rails that just cant be made fast enough etc etc... blah

 
supposedly new shit is on the way, but the old guy hasnt started welding yet. unfortunately, in all of crystal's new plans, they are not planning a terrain park, which would make it sooper dope

I absoutly agree with skier_boy26, if you want a good park you need to do it the right way and let your voice be heard, not this let's bitch about and do nothing. And yeah they have the potental to have the best park in th PNW if they had the old tpc back and the guy doing now had nothing to do with it. And as far as NEW rails go.... it's not going to happen, at least not until people start voicing what they want and soon, plus they don't have a park manager cause matt took a different job and Mike (old tpc designer) sounds like is going to tahoe. And they don't have anybody the knows the right way to build rails, and they won't build rails if they aren't built the right way cause their to woried about another lawsuit.

 
if the old guy is welding then you can expect about 4 10' long 6" wide flat bars and one ugly 6" wide round bar.

 
this thread is a perfect example of why snoqualmie kicks the shit out of stevens, the terrain at the summit (alpental not included) might not be their but they deffinatly make due, and the events they put on are way rad... so stop bitching and just go ride the summit cause they obvisouly got their shit going on..

who had the best park last year with no snow.. and absolutly no snow at all.. oh yah thats right snqoualmie and they even opend their pipe up.. talk about dedication.

that's only because people on the 3rd floor made everyone that gave a rats ass about the place leave. and yeah I do agree that snoquime had a better park/events last year, Krush is the shit. But as much as I love the park I'll take sick backcounty at stevens over anywere anyday. yaeh I've been to Alpintal on a pow day blah blah blah, but it has nothing on stevens.

P.S. it's not hard to have a good park when there's no snow

 
i agree i would never go to alpental or snocrummie for backcountry or just terrain in general, but their rails and boxes kick ass

oh not to mention all season pass holders last year are again this year because they are offering their passes again.. what did stevens do.. hmm 50 dollars CREDIT at the mountian.. ha! point here not being who hsa better terrina but a more Customer service friendly mountain would be snoqualmie on top once again.
