Ive got a pair of stereo speakers here and I want to hook them up to my laptop. Only problem is that the wires are stripped. I tried doing some funky wiring with a jack from a airline headphone but its not working. some help would be nice here.

wow. 1st get a reciever for speakers. plug speakers into back of reciever. set reciever to video/aux. then get audio in/out cable. it will have a headphone jack on one end and an audio in/out on other. plugh audio cable white and red ends into the video/ aux on reciever then plug headphone end ioto speaker port on laptop. play music and enjoy.

I dont know because they are my cousins and she had he radio stolen and they only took the huge speakers and stripped the wires to the small ones.

They are like these:

I did the same thing before, but to hook up to an ipod. when you strip the wire inside there are actually 2 different wires that your need to keep seperate. find which wire connects to which inorder for it to sound clear. Then just twist them together and put electrical tape around them, so they dont short.

Okay im going to try to explain what it looks like because I think you almost got it.

You can clearly see that there is two wires because it has the two wires together in the beginning and then it spilts into two. Now I have a bunch or copper wires sticking out of each one. am I going to take just one of those and use it or try and sepreate the copper to figure out which ones I want|

is the pic what you are trying to do? Putting a headphone jack to stereo wire? if so you have to the jack with the wire from headphone. cut it as close as you can to the actual earphones so the wire is already seperated and you have enough so you can strip it mutliple times. now plug the headphone jack into an ipod or something playing music so you know when you have it right. now touch one wire from the jack to one one the speaker, and do the same thing for the other wire. if it doesnt sound right put switch which wire from the jack touches which on the stereo.

Okay cool. Ill go screw with my broken iPod headphones because one of the buds is already stripped. Ill let you know if it works. Thanks

If you don't know what you're doing you can seriously screw up your computer. I suggest not messing around with it and spending $15 and buying a set of speakers made for a computer. If you do decide to do it then best of luck and make sure you don't want to use your warranty.

snowcase your a fag.

first of all you have a + amd - cable.

go to radioshack and buy a composite adapter which you can solder a + and - to. then buy the appropriate adapters so you can hook it up to a "Y" and into your comp.

im playing music through my computer through computer speakers and they suck. I use it every night and I want to use better ones. And dont worry. Im well aware that stereo speakers magnets can screw your computer up. Im keeping them a good distance away.

Anyway I stripped to wires to my old iPod buds and the nice people at apple color coded the wires. One is blue while the other is copper. I wrapped one wire to one wire and another to another to another. Is that what I was supposed to do

there probably a good chance your comp wont have enough output power to make them work, let alone sound decent. you can do twist with an old headphone jack but its going to be a poor connection. Dont bother

ahhh, first off, i doubt the laptop has enough power to use stereo speakers...you need a reviever, that you can plug the strippied wires from the speaker into, and connect the laptop to the reciever.

my comp (not laptop) is hooked up to stereo spkers, but i dunno how it happened. my dad did it one day when he was bored i guess lol

I had mine hooked up to my stereo then one day I was watching the sh6 trailer and of course no one was home so it was blastin and then it suddenly shut off and doesn't work anymore. I'm going to buy another one soon enough.
