Step Up Vs. Afterbang

First of all I was wondering if the second carbon ollie band on the Step Up will not only make the ski stiffer, but a little more responsive or snappy compared to last years Afterbang. Also i would like to know why one more carbon ollie band costs 70 dollars more. If anybody has skied them it would be awsome to see if the only difference is stiffness or not.

Thanks

++++K for any helpful responses

The Step-Up is a stiffer version of the Afterbang - which is awesome, because the Afterbang was just a bit too soft for my liking.

ya , iv heard there going to be stiffer and alot more durrable.....im almost possitive they changed the side walls to like the invaders so they dont get destroyed.....and i things thats the only changes!

yeah I was also wondering why there was a $70 difference between the two. And for a skier who does jib a lot but also hits a few jumps are the step ups good or the abangs are better?

personal preference. ive seen people on invaders kill jumps but many people cant stand the feeling of landing backseat. honestly it depends on how many jumps you hit and how big they are.

been running big jump with a lot of speed, so buy Step Up, shown you love to play around with soft ski, so buy After Bang.Lytt til

^NO!

GT is so stupid these days, newbs who don't know what their talking about need to gtfo. The only 100% legit person in GT is Flashkick. end rant.

So we just got stepups and abangs in at the ski store where i work. Step ups are a lot stiffer than a-bangs, but they will soften up after you've skied them for a while. Double carbon ollieband is going to make them more poppy and responsive. Both are park specific, so they obviously won't ski amazing on groomers or pow, but they will be awesome in the park where they are intended to be use.

Dont listen to him though, hes not 100% legit. But seriously, hes right in all aspects. The stepups did feel a lot stiffer than the Abangs but will probably soften over time.

K, he's obviously not 100% legit (i was exaggerating a lot). Theres just way too many people giving bad advice because they have no idea what they are talking about!

i got the step ups and i was talking to the guy at the shop about the sidewalls and he said he heard to put wax on the wooden sidewalls to help prevent waterlog and what not

I think he was saying don't listen to you, because you said the other guy is the only legit on (meaning you're not?)

Anyhooters, does anyone find it ridiculous that they discontinued the Anthem and replaced it with a ski that's the same dimensions as an existing ski?

I loved my anthems, I was so sad to see them gone.

The other difference besides the carbon ollie bands is...On the afterbangs it's 7 layers of wood stacked but only 5 in the tip and tail making for butter zones. The stepup has the 7 layers throughout the ski making the ski stiffer and better for jumps than the a-bang.

yeah the step up is stiffer and comes in larger sizes.i have flexed the chronics and steups and they had similar flexes, but due to the construction the step ups are heavier

from what i hear, a 100mm waisted version was the original idea, but scrapped due to issues with the prototypes. the step-up was produced to cover up the hole left by the chronic, more so than the anthem.
