i know theres already a thread on this but i just got back from the theaters and it was fucking hilarious....definately worth a movie ticket...i havn't laughed that hard in awhile

you all must be 14 or retarded. this was easily one of the worst movies i've ever seen. there were like 4 funny lines in the entire movie. it felt like i was there for hours and not 95 minutes. it wasn't as bad as semi pro, which was worse than darfur, but this movie was fucking stupid. i'm so pissed i wasted 7.50$ on it.

about semi-pro, i didnt pay to see it and im glad i didnt, cause it woudn't be worth admission buy d-load was fine, just something to watch
 
you must be like 50 cause the only people boring enough to hate on this movie are my parents.
anyway this movie was awesome, i think it was better than superbad, atleast i was laughing alot more.
 
wow buddy get a sense of humor and lighten up...obviously there are not extreme key plot points but admit that it was funny tasteless humor...i mean will ferrel tee bagging a drumset?? that doesn't happen every day
 
QUESTION

The teasers for this movie didn't make me want to see it at all. I don't think anything Will Ferrell has done since Anchorman (outstanding) has been remotely funny. People who share this opinion (and I know you're out there), is this movie the same Ferrell shit of late or is it actually a change of pace?
 
sorry bro, but i'm 19 and i happen to go to movies when i can afford it; like saturday afternoons. nights are clearly reserved for the more social scene my friend.

and about the movie, some jokes were kinda funny, but the entire time i was waiting for something laugh out loud funny and it just never came. i have a super immature sense of humor and think almost everything is funny, but this movie struck me as completely retarded.
 
You were the poster I was looking for. Stupid humor is amazing. I love Old School, Superbad, Dumb & Dumber, Biodome.. classic idiotic humor. Will Ferrell movies of late have just been... not stupid humor, but just stupid.

Wrong. That movie is so overrated it's disgusting. I love comedy movies, they're practically all I watch unless there's an absolutely amazing movie outside the genre (for example Dark Knight) but Talladega Nights was a massive failure. It had a few moments, nothing spectacular though.

Exactly. All my friends were dying, I thought it was mediocre to the last degree. I was laughing a couple of times throughout the movie, but I felt that it was just stupid and had no direction at all. Sure, it's not supposed to have much of a story, but still, Superbad had a better flowing storyline. It's like they tried to cram in as many one liners as they could then tried to round off the last 15 minutes all serious. There are alot of stupid funny movies, like what was listed ^, personally I compared it to Super Troopers. They should be in the same category but the last couple Will Farrell movies have been missing something to be as epic as those or to even come close to Anchorman's quality.
 
I am of the exact same opinion of you. I loved Anchorman, all his other movies were huge disapointments. All I can say about step brothers is that although it was not as good as Anchorman, it was quite a bit better than Talledega Nights. Its still a silly movie that a lot of people will find funny, whereas I find the jokes in movies like Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin, and hopefully Pineapple Express are a little more complex with actual storylines that go along. Jokes that I think get lost on a huge amount of the viewing audience.

ie. When in Knocked Up at the end guys wife asks if the bearded dude is the rabbi, and he responds with "I think its Matisyahu." I think me and my friend were the only people who laughed in the whole theater.
 
Damn, getting so many mixed reviews on this. I agree with Motumbo about Ferrell's humor taking a huge downward spiral these past years. Talledega Nights was a huge failure, not humorous at all. I'm skeptic about this movie, and reading both proZach and GLrunner's reviews, makes me even more skeptic. Hmmm.
 
I saw it last night, and it is no anchorman. Its better then Talledega Nights though. I did laugh a few times, but i wasnt to happy with it.
 
Word, maybe I'll download it but I sure as hell won't spend money then. Ferrell seems to be of the opinion that if he takes something that's not funny whatsoever and screams it then it's immediately hysterical. Sorry bud, that wore off awhile ago.
 
So here's my own opinion about this movie..

Seeing as this movie has been mentioned a lot in this thread, I really did not like Superbad. Hate on me all you want, but I felt like I was just watching the last month of high school all over again. Sure, I didn't have friends who drew dicks all the time, or a friend who wore vests and got to chill with cops all night. But the stuff they said has all been said before. I was bored and pissed off during Superbad. I didn't mind Talladega Nights and I've seen Anchorman too many times to even like it anymore.

I went in to Step Brothers knowing it was going to be fucking ridiculous. Hardly any story line, and just absurd one liners. And that's all it was. If you go in there thinking it's going to be anymore than that, I don't think you will like it. But if you just want to laugh and keep an open mind, go see this fucking movie. I laughed during about 98% of it. They say everything you wanted to say to your parents, but didn't. Holy shit, just typing all this out makes me want to go see it again.
