I'm moving out next year and I want to just ski steep and deep big mt all year, what mt out west would be a the prefect place to find that

baker for sure. they get dumped non stop and have some of the best BC lines I have skied.plus the sick highway gap

If your from the east then it prolly wont matter where you go. But i am absolutely in love with crystal, but its got kind of a country club feel, lots of old people and absolutely no park. Baker on the other hand is also amazing and would probably be a really cool place to live

i hear alta is sick. you should definitely check them out.

mammoth is pretty gnarly too.

it rains a lot in washington and oregon.

Silverton Co, Telluride Co, Wolf Creek, Co, A basin Co, Jackson hole/Grand Targhee wy, Alta/Brighton/Snowbird Ut, Taos NM, Bridger Bowl/Big Sky MT, Baker, Alpental, Crystal Wa, anything in BC and a few in Alberta as well. oh and tahoe could be a good choice...

That depends what you mean by backcountry. Do you mean backcountry type inbounds terrain, like the ski manufacturers definition of "BC"? or do you mean actual out of bounds ski touring?

Whitewter BC, hands down. so much sick stuff, and a lot of hidden things that once found will make you never want to leave.

whitewater or kicking horse, stevens baker crystal, id just go to hood though, if your from the east you'll get in over your head and maybe die with no deep snow/backcountry experiance.

Although the BC skiing around the San Juans (Silverton, T-Ride and Wolf Creek) is baller, it has just about the most dangerous snowpack you can find on this continent. That said, I have been to Silverton and everything you have ever heard about it is true - it is where really excellent skiers go to scare the shit out of themselves.

yea colorado snow pack is dangerous as hell, the further away from tthe ocean you get the more dangerous it is. ohio, you really shouldnt ski backcountry there.

Whistler is nucking futs. Sooo much to ski, and so many people. Never needing a car was awesome though.

I hear good things about Kicking Horse's terrain and snow quality, and Revelstoke will be far enough off the international tourist's map for a few more years that it should still be quiet.

he speaks the troof. not to mention all the unknown old school shredders that just dominate every line there. also check out alpine meadows and kirkwood.

Squaw kills it with sick cliffs but they are shorter lines than say Jackson. Also big sky and moonlight have some great big mountain and super exposed lines that are Back country style. And if you want to get a way from people check out Mt Baker or Grand Targhee. I vote Squaw the home of the 4 foot storm

wolf creek treated me right this past winter. the snowpack is dangerous as all hell though. pnw is where it's at as far as stable and consistent snowpack goes. that shit sticks to everything up there. sure the snow is heavier than in CO, but you'll be stoked when you can drop 40 footers after an 8 inch snowstorm. you'd need like 20 some inches to do that shit in CO.

bridger bowl for sure in bozeman montana. then you can hit up big sky half an hour away, and your close to some sweet places in canada, idaho, and washington. another dope place is grand targhee. dont get lured by jackson hole, targhee is the shit

lost trail, montana, always a powder day 2 feet plus, and a park, park is still building up to par......

ya i forgot about lost trail. its a really small area, it was in realtime, they get tickets for like 30 bucks and hit cliffs in waist pow all day

at jackson they can say nope you cant go into the backcountry.

alta you duck the ropes to go out of bounds if your gate isnt open. you just cant come back in a closed area.

no way, targhee gets as much snow (probably more) and has some amazing cliffs, tree skiing, and sick lines. and you cant even talk about how good the back country is

Grouse mountain! The peak of vancouver

all the rail pow, rain pow, hot pow, and slush pow that you could dream of!

Powder Mountain Utah is epic, not the steepest hill ever but alot of mini golf lines, and cat skiing for 12 bucks a ride that access over 1200 acres, you can literally be riding

Powder Mountain Utah, not necessarily the steepest resort ever, but its 5,500 skiable acres, cat skiing for 12 bucks that opens up 1,200 acres of non lift access terrain and if your willing to hike for 20 minutes you can hit untracked lines for 10 days in between storms. its a great resort if you like mini golf lines and and the lightest snow in Utah. also the park is one of the more fun ones in utah. but if you just want balls to the wall steep go Snowbird, UT Snowbasin UT, or Bridger Montana is pretty sick too.

i guess i don't really mean straight up from the base lodge. overall the place is pretty mellow, but there are some gnarly spots and the bc there is unbelievable.

also, it's pretty tough to beat the crowd factor there. i had one bluebird pow day there this season where there were probably thirty other cars in the parking lot. i've never experienced anything like that before, it felt like i owned the place.
