oh shit it's actually downloading. It's only 15.3 gigs. I'm going to get high as fuck and play for the rest of the night. Will report back
 
I really didn't enjoy it. There are a few fun aspects, but as a whole, it seems like a cash grab by Ubisoft... which isn't that surprising if you follow the gaming industry.
 
Quite enjoy it. Physics seem better than snow/infinite air. Controls are a bit hard to get used to but are quite nice once you get the hang of it. racked up 2-3 hours now, and once the tutorials are over, it throws you out into the world to shred. Some peaks are way easier/more fun than others, but some of the terrain is absolutely unreal in terms of difficulty/sketchiness. I'm playing on PS4 btw, so those playing on PC may find different results. I plan on playing over the course of the weekend(after work) and would say as of now, probably a 7-8/10 chance of purchasing it upon release. Really appreciate the fact that I haven't been able to match some of the largest spins thrown in real life, and have gotten one triple, but mostly singles and dubs. 3 axis of spins seem to be in the game, and you can mix them up.
 
I just finished playing it for about 2 hours and if you compare Snow to Steep then $0 to $60, I think snow wins for sure. I know that some people like the big mountain more realistic feel of Steep. But I feel like I can't even 720. Snow is fun to actually grind rails, and do big air tricks. I like for a video game to let you do crazy tricks. Steep is super serious, where as Snow I can just 1350 onto rails.
 
the only things that made me angry was that there is no prespinning so if i carve a jump i have to reset before i spin like wtf? fix that and ill be happy
 
Ive played about 3 hours and think its pretty fun. I think SNOW looks cooler but unfortunately I have a mac and an Xbox so i can't play it. I'm just happy to have an option other than shred sauce (not that shed sauce isn't awesome).
 
The game is pretty dope IMO. The map is huge, especially for a beta. Big fan of the lines you can hit and the skiing gameplay. Only thing which bugs me is the freestyle seems pretty limited. On skate 3, I was always in total control of my rotation, how far round I was gonna go etc. On steep, I push left and it can be anything from a 180 to dub 12. Also grabs are annoyingly limited. But overall pretty solid game
 
SNOW is undisputably better for freestyle, but the only problem is SNOW runs like a fucking piece of shit on my computer. God damn, they need to optimize that game. My computer can run ark at 60 fps, there is no fucking reason SNOW should lag like it does.

Can't agree more. gave the studio the same feedback since the alpha, but nothing really changed yet. hopefully they'll patch it a bit after release. otherwise the freeriding is so much fun and is on a whole other level than snow

Oh my god guys, I'm so dumb. My computer had reverted back to using my computer's integrated graphics card by default for snow. I set it back to using the nvidia processor and it runs like a dream again. Not sure why it reset like that, it was fine until a couple months ago.

now I'm going to play the shit out of snow because steep certainly didn't do it for me
 
Lasted 15 minutes thenn I deleted it. It sure as hell isn't made by anyone who rides. When you can't carve into a jump then something is wrong. And it felt really weird to controll. Why can't the guys who made skate just make a snowboarding game already...

I just don't understand how video games are becoming shittier. Like SSX is so old but it is such a better more fun game. Need for speeds use to be so fun. Cod use to be so fun. There is literally not one game for the ps4 that is fun. Not even a simple racing game that is decent. I'm chapped. I just play rocket league

youre totally on point about UbiSoft and I feel the snowboarding in this game is basically that Shaun White Snowboarding game that came out a few years ago, but its alright. ive been playing it a bit and you can kinda slow the gameplay down a bit to make things a bit more realistic. like I just found a killer steep kinda AK spine-line face into a killer straightline cliff drop that was pretty damn fun tbh
 
I LOVED it. it did to snow sports what skate did to skateboarding games. There were some obvious bugs but that's expected when it comes to beta versions. I feel like when the full version comes out. they're gonna have a lot of the controls/physics tweaked out. My roommates and I can't stop playing though

After spending a bit more time trying it out today, I still don't think it's gonna be worth AAA prices.

No prewind for spins is the main issue that keeps annoying me the most.

Amped 2 still did it best.

Been playing it alot, its super fun. The tricks and park gameplay is SSX level, so not great, but the rest of the game is so damn fun, the map is so god damn big and there are tons of huge unrealistic hits that are so fun boost.
 
Downloaded the beta a couple of days ago, at first I thought it was just ok, and definitely not freestyle friendly (no grinds?). But the more I play (especially after the first park challenge when you finally learn how to spin and flip and do grabs), the more fun this game is.

The freeride/backcountry aspect, being able to climb back on foot to get to a line, is awesome. The fact that you can just ride for 10 actual minutes without having to stop is too damn fun.

Just not sure about the paragliding/wingsuit stuff...
 
I just spend far too much time doing huge backies and I love it!

Although Ubisoft, pls put in blunt grabs and the ability to cork 3. Pleeeeeeaaasssee

You can do tail grabs, r2 or l2 and down on the right stick, and you can do lincoln loops, you can do corks, its just 100 times harder than snow.
 
Not sure if it's worth the price tag but I played it for hours on end getting faded with my homies yesterday and it can definitely suck you in. The paragliding shit is wack but it's nice to be able cruise for 10 minutes. Also they should add deploying parachute/wing suit mid line.

I went passed be basecamp in the beginning tutorial and the only way to get back is walking up the mountain.
 
I got it on the PC, I unlocked everything in the beta and I think its worth max $20. Id never pay the full $60 for it. But the game looks dope tho, just not worth the price.

Snow is okay, the gameplay is no where near as realistic as Steep, but the overall tricks/etc are better.

I just dont understand how someone can't just make a game like amped 2 but updated? Shit that game is 14 years old and still has better game play then a brand new game in 2016...

Probably should have mentioned I like the freestyle aspect.

I personally want to see SSX make some kind of comeback, those games were amazing.
 
Played it on my friends Xbox and it was pretty mehhhh.....

But I also downloaded it on my PC and it crashes every time I start the game. Is anyone else experiencing this??
 
All of these youtubers are making videos just loving this game. Most of them don't ski or snowboard, these videos just annoy me.

I do lots of tricks on Steep. All kinds of flips, rotations, etc.

The only thing that's not in the game are rails. But as it's obviously backcountry oriented it doesn't really bother me.

Oh yeah, I mean the grabs are kinda goofy and the game finishes tricks for you (you can turn that off, didnt get a chance to try it, now the beta is over :( ) but yeah you can do tricks, its just not what the people of NS want, snow has better trick simulation even though the rest of the game is pretty out of wack.
