Steep beta release time

Anyone know what time ps4 steep beta drops? Its online 18th - 21st November, does that means it'll drop on midnight? I'm in the UK so will it revolve around US times or be regional?

Has anyone been able to sign in? I set up an account to play on PC but it just keeps loading when I try to sign in.

ill probably forget to check, if you play it post back and let me know how it is

Been playing a bit today, very complex game its very cool. The oveall gameplay is pretty solid but the 'freestyle' aspect isnt great, doing tricks isnt super easy, but im still learning.

I was really worried that they would try to hard to create the "whole mountain experience" and the gameplay when skiing or boarding would fall short.

Does that ring true with your impressions at all?

Overall the actual game play is awesome, its just lacking a bit on the tricks/jumps/rails side which if you want that, just play snow. But there is so much cool shit you can do in Steep and the map is HUGE

I got to play last weekend, and I was super impressed. I bet if the game is popular enough to make a sequel we'll be sliding rails in it.

Is the map entirely open on the new beta? Regardless, the portion I was allowed to ride was massive.

The map is HUGE. Like holy shit, I was only able to play for a bit just now but it was quite fun. Gets some getting used to to actually control yourself in the air but it is pretty fun. Still need to explore drop points and all that.

Look at the threads about skiing games over the years, and this is basically exactly what everyone described.

Can't believe there isn't more hype for it on ns.

Having fun so far, but can't fully figure out if it's possible to fast travel in this version. Huge map, so many good spots, but can't figure out how to get to them

I mean, this isnt the game for NSers, the park skiing aspect of the game is subpar, nothing compared to Snow. Overall the game play is great, tons of awesome features about this game but park skiing isn't one of them, there arent even rails in the game ha

Yea I found the pipe this morning. It was very tricky to do anything beyond the first hit. Couldn't keep speed at all.

fast traveling gets a lot easier as the game goes on, the more spots you unlock ect. also using the paraglider and manipulating the wind to go up steep sections was the easiest way to actually travel around the game imo.

Yea that's what I've been discovering. The paraglider is definitely the best way to reach absolutely remote points. I'd imagine the full game must have some kind of helicopter drop type feature, otherwise there's areas that are basically untouchable

You can buy heli tickets in the store, drops you anywhere in the map that you have unlocked/discovered. I went to the top of mount blanc but it just took me back to mountain view when i tried to drop in.

My favorite is trying to see where i can wing suit to, its actually pretty efficient as well.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm having a hard time discovering anything with the binoculars.

Managed to get about 3/4 of the way up the Aiguilles by various methods

Do you have a balloon yet? Thats the easiest way to discover new shit is get in the balloon and wingsuit out.

I cant get switzarland, mount blanc, the forbidden(or something) mountains or this other area that starts with an A unlocked, its super annoying haha

You can ride thermals up to Switzerland and ride the edge of it but you can't do any challenges. But yeah i heli'd to the top of mt blanc and got the same thing.

Even when I fly over, i get stopped with a "you're reaching the limit of this map" maybe cause its beta? or maybe i need to be a higher level?

I think it gives you that message no matter what, but we disregarded it and managed to land next to a lodge on top of the edge of the Switzerland region and ride around the area w/o getting sent back into mountain view. I believe we also entered Switzerland by riding thermals up the valley instead of trying to drop in from the balloon. Maybe they picked up on the glitch, though.

Wish I could send you a screenshot of where we managed to land, but I've only been able to play at my friend's place.

I just don't like the wing suit enough they kinda threw physics out the window and it got the shit end of the stick lol

Expand, please.

I think if it was more realistic it wouldn't be fun, sometimes shit has to be a bit unrealistic

the only way I can expand that is by saying that it isn't a simulation game. If it were more based off a sim I would have more fun but that's probably just me

you're not wrong about that but I would have enjoyed the game more if it were more simulator based instead of arcade based. I do like the game a lot, there's no denying that but a harder mode or something would be cool at the same time.

that and I did spend 99% of the time on the game skiing and about 1% paragliding to drop ins. I flew through a bunch of intricate shit with the suit when I started and got bored of it quick

Yeah, I wish there was a way to simulate how difficult it can be to ski in variable conditions. Skiing endless virgin pow runs is great, but sometimes it feels a little too SSX if you know what I mean.

But hell, some of those wingsuit challenges are tough enough, I don't want that aspect of the game to be any more realistic haha.

that's pretty much exactly what i'm saying, more like skate less like ssx.

I'm not saying the wingsuit stuff should be harder necessarily, it just kinda bugs me that they left out the wind and stuff for it. Flying in a wing suit hasn't even really appealed itself to me in the real world apart from the beauty and adrenaline of it.
