Steamboat's Park

the problem right now is park crew motivation. apparently the intrawest park manager came in as a tyranical dictator, and the park crew was just like, hey fuck you man... and thats why they didnt have a legit park until like january.

Dunno if its true but its what I heard. also heard they are making lots of new rails this year. intrawest tends to do good things for parks, they did for copper and winter park, but I would give it a few seasons now.

i was there in march and it was alright...they had 2 dece tables and a half dozen rails

I don't know what it was like last year in the spring but in Jan. it was weak. Its too bad. The problem with Steamboats park is that they had a good park back about 4 or 5 years ago. but since then they have not inproved anything, I think I has actually declined.

its below par, so not that great, but fun if you get creative. itd be sick if they got new rails. i also heard that they are going to put more effort into the pipe, which is sick because they have a zaugg, and it would dumb not to make a good pipe with that kind of equipment. also, hope for bigger jumps, last year biggest jump was 50.....tops....hopefully intrawests "park magic" kicks in soon...

not very good when i went there they had a nice trap box then a flat box and a c rail and an up box then two small jumps then a couple of bigger jumps below that and a few rails they also had a small jump line to the right of that i didn't bother skiing park there though the powder and tree skiing is so awesome

park can be fun depending on the day. its def not the park crews fault. its management. they are forced to build things like the fucking shitshow they called a skiercross course, instead of investing time into a good park. but it can be fun. they had two good i would say 45 to 50 footers in late feb last year when i was there. some ok smaller jumps. an up flat down box, c rail, s rail. biiiig rainbow, and a flat down box. oh and an up rail and a down rail and low down a really low down rail. plus a kinda fun little mini park with some rollers that were fun for butters.

find the steamboat thread in regionals and ask there

I was there in March and it was pretty fun all around. Like said they had some decent sized jumps and some ok rails. It was fun for most of the day, but there was tons of stuff around the mountain to mess around on as well. However, I wouldn't plan a park oriented trip to there

SICK. any news on jump setup? and will that stupid fucking skiercross course be there again?

They better not put that skiercross back, that was such a disaster last year. 30k in rails, how many does that buy and where did you hear that?

more people got hurt on that than the actual features. so many kids that had no business being in there got messed up flying out of it when they couldnt stop

30k in rails......heh....from cactofag?

I wont even mention how much money steamboat has already dumped into that guy for this sub-par welding and boxes.

so each year i hear, yo this park is going to be the shit. and every year i go up there since sobe sponsored it. but i truly believe that this year it is going to be good. also last year the rails were good there but the jumps sucked, step downs and huge bomb into them jumps

i won't believe any of it until i see it. bashor is sweet and everything but it needs to be longer. fuck hitting 2-3 features and having to get on the lift again

nahp, we need some snow though. Not looking good with the economy the way it is and them announcing layoffs today.

Rumor has it jumps will be similar to how they were 2 years ago... big jumps by the pipe.

Opening on Wed!... well sort of, Thursday for passes

park sounds promising this year... but we'll see what actually gets done to whats said.

btw, less than 24 hours until opening, I've got a few pics up on my blog if you wanna see current snow status

As far as I can tell this morning heres whats open:

upper boulevard (sitz back)

Jess' cut off

stiz

see ya

lil rodeo

stampede

lower right-o-way

They are having features on lil rodeo for opening, I think I could see an up-flat-down box, small rain bow, and a few flat rails. I'll venture over there in a few to take a picture.

went up for a couple hours this morning and there was nobody. fun for early stuff and theres alot for steamboat. hopefully things keep up

Bummer... I've yet to be up as I've been traveling ALOT! Hows the little jump up there, a nice little picture was featured today on the front page of the paper. Going up tomorrow!

Jump is fun, boxes get old fast, ready for more to open up. Its still pumped its there though, if only that thing would be there year round!

The lift should start running soon... the nastar course opens on the 20th

Superpipe and terrain park should open between Christmas Day and the 27th

medium jumps, pipe, and rails are up in bashor bowl. bigger jumps to come later (the jump line 2 years ago). the medium jumps are probably the best steamboat has had. about a 30 footer to 40 footer, pretty good shape.

Really? I've heard some good stuff about them, ran into heath today and he was saying good stuff about them, but I didn't think he worked for the mtn anymore? Anyways... busted ankle, pair of skis, goggles already! fun... fun... should be up soon though

Heath was sitting there watching everyone hit the jumps on Sunday and I talked to him for a bit. He is working for the mountain and is doing the main cat pushing. Scott Anfang (sp?) is supposed to be in charge of the park this year but don't really know whats up with what he does. Heath claims the big jumps are coming back, which would be really sick. Sucks bout your misfortunes in busting everything this year. Lets go up sometime soon once you are feeling it.

o yeah, the jumps are fun too. the second one catches you real smooth into the landing and they flow good and the landings are prob too big to ever over shoot. similar to last years but a little bigger and better.

really fun little setup actually. ive been having some good fun. took jump #2 like 60 2 days ago and separated my shoulder...haha

ya i got up for a bit this week, i never caught the sunny periods so didnt hit the jumps. we need a super long rail line with more advanced boxes/rail combos, flat boxes, rainbows, and battleship are getting old
