Steamboat tips?

I'm gonna hit up Steamboat in the near future (I'm a Summit County/San Juan frequenter). Anyone have tips on lifts/terrain to avoid altogether, where I can lap groomers easily if my Dad is with me, a "must hit" spot, etc? Not looking for you to reveal your favorite stashes if you don't want to, but just some tips so I don't waste half a day on bullshit terrain.

Also, any tips on good bars/food would be appreciated if you can stand to reveal them.
 
I haven't been skiing at Steamboat in forever, but do go there in summer pretty frequently. If you're looking for places to eat, I suggest Mambo Italiano. It's an Italian restaurant right on the main street, and it's very good.
 
They've been getting tons of snow, so most stuff should be good. The key to steamboat is sticking to one lift, cause switching around alot gets you stuck on a bunch of cat tracks. I would suggest lapping Storm Peak, Sundown Express, an Pony Express (if its open, if not: hike its worth it). Nelsons Run (off storm) should be awesome around now, as there are tons of natural features, rocks, jibs, etc to hit earlier in the season before the base drowns them out (aka right now). Check out morningside too, but you dont get much skiing in up there, as its a long traverse out if you ski anything further north than the No Name chutes area... However, its the steepest skiing up there.

For your dad, Heavenly Daze (the main run right under the gondi), vagabond, rudys run, etc.

As far as restaurants/bars: like ^ he said, mambos, also carls is decent, mazzolas, old town pub, rio grande

for breakfast: creekside, the shack, egg & i, freshies

Just got done skiing some of the best pow of my life today, I picked a good time to show up! Thanks for the tips man, I lapped Pony and hiked the Morningside chutes the last two days. Chest deep turns on the chutes and waist deep all morning on Pony.
 
Thanks for this advice, super helpful. I just moved into town yesterday for the winter and I have a place at the Highway House (I know), so if anyone has any job suggestions or knows of anyone looking for an extra roommate, let me know. Heating doesn't even work for my room...
 
Holy shit, past couple days have been so good. I have three days off work this week--yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Couldn't have worked that out any better. I've been lapping Pony most of the day both days, riding Surface New Lifes. Say what's up if you see me!
 
Mahogany ridge easily has some of the best food/beer in steamboat. OTP is decent since they remodeled but primarily typical greasy bar food. Good service tho, tell Potsy or Sarah (bartenders) Tom said whats up. Slopeside is good too for late happy hr for some pizza n such.
