Steamboat or Vail?

i just got a job offer as a lift operator in Steamboat and am pretty sure i got the same job in Vail but am still waiting to here back. Cant decide where to work/live. Any opinions?

 
Definitley go to steamboat....although the park doesnt get as much hyp it is still really good, especially the pie...let alone its cheaper, tighter town, and a whole lot less expensive just to live

yeah steamboat is cheaper and the town is alot better than vail. and i like steamboat a little better than vail just cause on pow days its easier to find cliffs and stuff cause its not so spread out like vail. and the snow is better.

 
yea the cost of livin in vail is for sure more expensive plus the town seems a little 2 glitzy 4 me but vail mountain is a lot bigger than the boat from what i've heard. Also right next to vail is beaver creek and one or two other mountains. Whats a better party town/has more hot girls?

steamboat = less crowds, sweet pipe, super nice locals, less developed town, less bitchy rich people, only bad thing about it compared to vail is the terrain isnt quite as good.

if you work at steamboat you get the real deal which is a FREE pass to EVERY resort in colorado except vail breck and keystone. if you work at vail you get a FREE pass to vail keystone and breck.

i'm jealous. i went out there for a week last year and it was such a good experience. everyone is so friendly. even the park rats are friendly, which never happens here on the east coast. and if you like pipe, you arent going to find a better one, thats for sure.

 
Well the pipe is nice, but the tranny could be a bit longer. Still pretty short imo. And yes, Us park rats are nice :D(and park crew :) )

If anyone says Vail they are clearly high on PCP. Blue sky basin doesnt even come close to the chutes and hiking shit at the boat. They got a nice pipe at boat too.
 
yeah steamboat is alot better, vail is for rich bitches, steamboat is the coolest town ever, the terrain is definatly better than vail, the pipe is good and so is the park, its also never crowded, i was at the park one weekend and seriously me and this other snowboarder were the only people there all day, and he was in the pipe most the time so i got the entire park pretty much to myself.
 
I didn't really like the 'boat, I thought American Ski Corp needed to pump more money into their mountain. Granted, last year they did get a better park crew and things improved a lot. I guess I just like the option of going to 7 mnountains.

Steamboat was some of the best snow I've ever skied though, it's a hard decision. I would say you need to ski steamboat at least one year of your life, it's that good.

Steamboat ( little on the short side but long pipe {great for learning}, just added some really nice boxes, nice rail runs, small/medium jumps, accessable back country terrain is a huge plus, large snowfall, lower elevation (snow melts quicker), huge drops with forgiving landings.)

breck (extremely nice terrain park, mini pipe, big pipe, small jumps, rail run, and they just opened the big boys {45ft, 60ft, 60ft step up}, keystone (night skiing, sweet jibs, and awesome jumps this year), vail (big mountain, nice jumps, really nice half pipe, drops & cliffs, sick trees, and quality rails), a basin (latest mountain open, providing a longer season). There is quite a bit more going on in the towns (comps, concerts, people).
 
Vail. You don't need to be any part of the glitz and glam if you just ride it, its some of the best terrain in the world and most varied. Sure, Steamboat has some sick stuff inbounds but not nearly the amount Vail has to do laps on quads. It's a whole different story if you have a sled or are an experienced Backcountry guy, but it doesnt sound that way...

As for the pass, yeah Steamboat gives you the CO pass but what are you going to do? drive 5 hours to Crested Butte or Telluride? Every other resort is a trip, why even live there? You'll ride mostly at the Boat.

As for parks, the combo of Vail, Breck, and Keystone will put the Boat's park to shame. Sure, it has good soul and is fun. But the Vail Resorts parks are 3 of the premier parks in the world.

I'm not knocking on Steamboat but for one year with little experience, I'd say Vail is your ticket.
 
for a place to live though steamboat kicks vails ass, i cant stand to be there sometimes with so many rich people everywhere, and the whole place is so, like commercial. but beaver creek is the worst for stupid rich people everywhere.

the people at steamboat are just cooler, and super nice, they have the best snow ever, and i still think the backcountry kicks vails ass, vail has nice backcountry but its so damn big and spread out.

at steamboat the entire mountain is almost backcountry, the park isnt as good as brecks, or keystones, but id almost rather go to steamboats park than breck, cause its never crowded, so you dont need 50 jumps, and the rails are awsome.

steamboat is like an actual town, vail is more like a disneyland.
 
nice ppl...sweet pow...hot spring..(clothing optional at night) and sweet skiing...go to STEAMBOAT!
