Stealing from constrction sites??

well ive been planning to make a pvc rail for a while now and finally got my lazy ass out to homedepot to price things. My house is in a new area of my town and is growing fast, so i basically live in a construction site( the area is huge!). With my estimated price i then figured id go drive around my neighbour hood to see if i could find some good wood, and maybe some pvc pipe and save my self some money.

( ^^these are just some town houses being built but picture this except over 2 - 3 square kilometers)

so i get my dad to drive me and were driving around and my jaw drops, like right infront of me is crates of fucking pvc pipe, there must have been around 1000 vc pipes staring me in the face! There

there were basically in every diameter from Like 1" to 4". I was liek DAD PULL OVER! so he does and i hop out of the car and am about to go take two 1 1/2" pipes when my dad goes "where are you going?"

me-" to get some pipes"

dad-" but there brand new"

me-"I KNOW EH! ISNT IT AWESOME!"

dad-" uh no because that would be stealing"

Me-" come on they have like enough for like a city, there not going to miss two measley pipes"

dad-" I said your not takign them!"

Me- " but Monarch( the builder of all the houses http://www.monarchgroup.net/index.cfm) is like super rich! they get these for like 2 cents a pipe! and besides people allways steal stuff from the job sites, they expect it"

dad-"NO, now stop arguing with me and get in the car before i deside to take you home"

im like wtf this is so gay!!! two pipes arent going to matter, and this company wastes soooo much liek you wouldnt believe how much shit they throw out! And you would believe all the wood they have laying around, infornt of every house being framed there are hhuuggeee piles of 2x4's and if you ask the workers they will even say" oh sure you can take that, here have another"( i know i asked) but my dad is being all christian like and shit and is like" no, we cant take those those are for the house, im only letting you take the ones in they are throwing out." so i finally found( after 45 min) a 4" pvc pipe and some chipped up and partly rotted 2x4's.

my dad kept telling " its against a commandment blah blah blah"

would you guys have taken it? i guess it basically comes down to morals. what do you think?

 
It does come down to morals, and you're dad is trying not to set the moral precedent to make stealing okay. Whether or not he thinks its going to matter for the company, he wont ever condone it. Steal it and make the rail in secret.
 
even though im not big on stealing things, becuase well its fucking gay, i have stolen pvc from a construction site before. for a 4 in 10 ft long piece is around 5 bucks i think.
 
yea i dont steal food and shit aft skiing like most of my friends do. but i have a 20ftr pvd stolen from a constrctuino site. and my frinds stle like 20 2bi4as for a drop in ramp
 
I will never steal from construction site after my buddies got in a shit load of trouble for doing it. and besides, if you ask the guys when they are there working a day, just ask if you can take their scraps. Its really a pain in the ass for those guys when shit gets jacked.

think how you would feel is someone jacked your skis at the mountain.
 
Yes it is bad karma to steal. You know damn well it's not the 'right thing to do' or you wouldn't be whinning on NS about it. That being said...if you steal, don't fucking tell people, especially on a public website. Here in the states there are often signs posted offereing extra rewards for information about theft from construction sites. I sense there might be some money in it for some cash-strapped NSer. Ottawa you say?
 
I would hope to find you stealing from my construction site. Little fucks like you pass higher prices along you dumb shit.  Stealing doesnt help anything. Especially for some dumb jib you will suck at.
 
just go dumpster diving at all the construction sites. me and my brothers have made so many things out of scraps. and they dont care if you take it.
 
I did ask the guys for the stuff they were going to throw in the trash and they said you can take these(refering to the new shit). and i said this in my story.

and this came across totally wrong, i am against stealing my friends jack shit form stores alll thhe time and i never go along with them because my concious bugs the fuck out of me to the point where i have to like basically bring it back to the store( i have done it once). But this seemed different to me, they have sooo much and they really do expect people to take some, not to mention that the workers said i can take some, so its not even stealing anymore!!

and i really dont want to come across as i guy who steals a bunch of shit for kicks. The first time i stole something was also my last it was at the age of 10( it was a cap gun) after about a day i felt too guilty and returned it to the store and apologized straight to the owner. And i also belive in karma and do good deads when ever i can. Didnt want to come off as a jerk.

and powder_weasel, like wtf. Sooooooo many people have come onto thic fucking website and have told storys about doing shit WAY more illegal than taking two pipes that were bought for like 20 cents each.
 
honestly...half of the contractors out there are thieving ass holes. NOW, all you need to do is wonder..."How am i going to get 2 of those pipes?"
 
youre a fucking douche. for the last three years i have been working for the same plumbing contractor. Nothing fucks up a day like materials getting stolen from a job site. To a simple minded person like you it may look like a big stack of pipes but in all reality if the company is as big as they appear to be those pipes were carefully ordered in the quantity that they needed them.
 
steal the pvc and if you get hurt on it, sue the construction company!

No i wouldent steal it. If its so easy to ask for that stuff than why dont you ask?
 
I don't steal from their brand new shit. I usually just ask if I can have their leftovers. Most people religious or not would agree that stealing is wrong. Whether you are taking a piece of candy or robbing a bank it is still stealing.
 
yeah thats what i do and it works out well. ive made a ton of shit out of scraps like that. i did take a couple of pvc pipes which i know is wrong but this construction site is really big and they build a couple houses then wait 3 months and then build a couple more. theres always new shippments of stuff and the stuff that they dont use they just throw out even if its new. i found some brandnew 2x4s and a couple brand new pvc pipes in the dumpster.

material quantities are carefully ordered, don't steal them. ask if you can go through the dumpster.

actually most places like that have scrap piles and theyll give that shit away for free...and its not crappy stuf either

worker- " if your asking if you can have one, then yes you can."

me- "you mean these!?( pointing to the brandnew pvc pipes like the ones in the crates."

In my opinion, justifying taking some pipes just because they had tons of them is like someone stealing a pair of skis from you and saying "Dont worry its okay you own 5 pairs of skis"
 
Un fucking believable. I take it you've never worked on a construction site before? They probably have a lot of PVC because--brace yourself--they need that much! There is nothing worse than being almost done with a huge job only to find out someone has taken one or two pieces you needed. And then you go ahead and try to justify taking a couple by saying they'd say it was ok if you asked in person. Yeah, that's fine, but does that make it right to assume and steal instead? Seriously, your logic (or lack thereof) baffles me. Sorry if I came across as harsh, but aroud here bad shit happens if you get caught stealing from construction sites.

but i keep saying this i did ask, i asked and the workers and the workers said sure take a couple and my dad said no, why do oyu people think im assuming.
 
i wouldn't steal from construction site, just because my dad works construction and i know what a bitch it is for them when that shit goes unaccounted for...just ask them they are usually chill about it

a huge part of my school is being renovated

so we hopped the fence

grabbed a pipe but it in my friends truck

and drove off

it was really funny cause its in a really busy area and right by downtown

and lots of people were watching us haha
 
I used to jack so much shit from construction sites, it legit. Me and a few friends actually built like a ghetto QP in a house being constructed it was dope.
 
just wander around looking at the trash piles and ask if you can take some from there. they probably will have some extra things there. ive done that and the guys there couldnt have cared less. just make sure you ask first

sorry to double post but WTF? how am i blaming it on my dad? or you fuking stupid or something. Holy shit i didnt inted to come across as such an ass-hole in this thread. I was simply asking what you guys thought of it.

and greg_o(or whatever your name is)- They did say go and take some, because like i said. there not building like one house its hundreds of them and they have a shit load of diffferent crews working on different houses, and there getting fucking huge shipments, so i dont know why its so hard to believe that the guys that are putting up the framign and shit said here you can have 1 or two 2x4's.

and im glad some of you guys are plumbers and construction workers and say how it ruins your day when that happens, i will definetly keep this in mind next time, and i usually always go look in there dumpsters first.
 
well from what i've seen it's never wrong to take what is in surplus from a construction site...unless it's still packaged. it's literally fucking disgusting what a commercial site will throw away. I've chucked out thousands of dollars worth of perfectly fine ply wood and scrap that any kid could be using for whatever. it hurts, wish i had a use for it.

if you go up to a site supervisor and ask for some scrap you'll definetely get it, they'll be cutting those pipes so there's gonna be some excess that's too small for them to deal with, but not too small for you to put some time into linking them together. always ask or scope out before jacking something offa site though, shits pretty regulated usually.
 
It's not that its that big of deal to any one person, but if you get caught you and your dad would be in a heap of trouble.. so you have to factor that in also.
