Staying on the rail after a 270 on

ok, i can 270 onto my down rail, but when i am spinning and i land on the rail, i just keep spinning and end up doing a 3. and i can only do it on short rails, how do i stay on without switch uping ?

spin more of a 180 than a 270, and shifty your feet to land sideways on the rail. after you know ur on solid, slowly rotate your body around to forward, and look up from your feet to the end of the rail...or keep looking at the lip and come off switch, or spin out blind, whatever ya do...

Might be sort of confusing but I'll try to explain it. Do a 180 and spot the rail under you, then twist your feet so they are sideways on the rail. Alot of people just try to spin the whole 270 onto the rail so when they land on it they stll have some momentum pulling them around further causing you to slide off. It's best to under rotate your actual spin a bit that way you can stop your momentum before you slide off the rail.

yea try to keep looking in the opposite direction that you are spinning after the 180

if you do a 180 land on the rail and then shifty your feet your just doing a 180 onto a rail not a 270

your most likely hucking your spin too much and just need to pop more off the lip and slow your rotation down. it helps to try and use your arms to stop spinning because then your body will stop rotating along with your arms.

Wow, I had this same problem. This thread is rally great, I will have to try this on saturday.

You guys who are doing the rails how long do your skis last ? Or like are you getting free skis ? I want to be doing rails but i aint got the money to be getting new skis ....

everyone is wrong. they are kinda right, but the way that i have always done them and taught people is to let your shoulder drag on the spin so that your body wants to stop spinning. when you land on the rail you wont fall backwards as easily

use elfin' magic...you can obtain it from there cookies they baked in their tree kitchen! damn a stove in a tree?? thats risky...

to oneEhtie- jibbing definitely affects your edges, but you can get them resharpened, and unless youre boosting pipe like a pro you dont need to worry about duller edges

as for the 270 on... when i first tried them i thought of it as a 360, but thinking of it as a 180 and then doing the last 90 with your feet helps you stay on if its a longer rail or you have a kink to deal with. so when im gapping onto a rail or im planning to 270 out, i think of it like a 360, but if not its key to think of it as a 180

why don't you try to spin a 270 and when you feel teh rail under your feet you just look at the end of the rail to lock it up.

I would do 180 and a +90 like the others are saying more in a switch 270 in

i wouldnt worry about it too much. once u get better at rails and such, ull probably have ur eye on some new skis. it doesnt fuck up ur edges or your skis too badly. i aggressively used fujatives all last year as the only ski i had, and i focused on rails a lot, and it really just rounded off the edges a little bit.

It can trash them while you are learning, but once you get good at it, you can easily land softer, and it eventually just rounds them. learn on boxes, they dont really do much of anyhting to your edges.

if you can try not to rotate your shoulders on the rail but rather use yoru eyes to spot downhill but with your head still sideways
