Staying "light" on rails

WOW.

last season was my 3rd on skis, and I still am really heavy getting on rails.

what i mean by that is I come down pretty fuckin hard, and its neither stylie nor pleasureable for me.

my question? are there any tips for getting on smoothly? i have tried simply absorbing the shock but i slide off forwards.

dont pop so much onto the rail...if it is an urban style lip it is going to be alot easier to do it...but if it is just normal lip and gap, just dont pop so much...try and get just above the height of the rail and then get onto it...you will get it...just need practice./

I usually make one run down the park before trying anything. I usually go off the lips off each jib to see what the feel of the launch is like. Next time around I'll know how fast of how slow I need to go so that I don't really need to pop. Just use the natural launch of the lip and let it do it's job.

don't pop above the rail and land down on it, pop to the rail so its a smooth transition. I dunno if that made sense to you

that makes perfect sense.

shit.

amazing help there... i hope.

oh, and i will start going faster.

but i now have another question:

how do you turn your skis if you dont pop? when i used to try not popping on my tails would catch on the lip.

thanks for all the help guys... awesome shit.

watch heed videos all day untill ur brainwashed into believing that the only way to get on a rail is by stepping on

u gotta get good enough pop so that you dont eat shit and catch an edge but dont do too much either

Most times you don't need to 'pop' if there is a good lip, I usually only pop to get on a rail urban style(from the side), or if you need to clear something, say like, if you want to gap to the flat on a battleship...just use the lip and instead of loading up your tails and launching, just suck your feet up to meet the rail.
