Staying Healthy

I missed almost all of the 10-11 season due to a broken collar bone, and I missed all of the 11-12 season because of a broken arm. This year (and last year, really) I'm super paranoid about staying healthy and basically living in a bubble so that I dont waste the money that I spent on a season pass and miss another season.

How do you guys stay healthy before the season?

I play in a dodgeball league and now I'm getting kind of worried about going. I just bought my season pass last week and now its imperative that I stay healthy, so I'm almost afraid to do anything physical because I'm worried I'll get hurt. Does anyone else have this fear?

you're worried about dodgeball being too dangerous because you want to go skiing?

you don't stay tough and healthy by living in a bubble. work out, eat well, and stay active and youre way less likely to get hurt

If you're getting a serious, season-ending injury via dodgeball then idk maybe you just aren't cut out for life

dude grow a pair. i fucked up my shoulder and knee last summer, broke my arm gnarly skateboarding last may and am just finishing rehab cuz i had surgery 2 moths ago. i play soccer 3 times a week, ultimate frisbee 3-4 times a week and go to the trampoline center atleast once a week. i was feeling kind of sketched out but i've just been doing sports and stuff and honestly ive never felt in better shape. the more you stay caught up on injuries the worse you feel

If you're motivated, do a shit load of squats, wall sits, balancing, and active stretching to prevent those knee injuries. Core workouts are good too while you're at it for back protection.

Otherwise you can't worry about it. Last season I pussied out of a couple tricks in the park for fear of injury after a buddy of mine tore his shoulder, but you just cant live your life like that. Go hard while you can, because you'll only get worse at recovering from injuries as you get older...

Buy calcium chews and eat at least 4 every day, drink milk at every meal. You want your calcium intake at about 300% for the day. Start working out, doing anything that will strengthen your muscles, don't sit on your ass and play video games all day.

If you are scared of getting hurt then buy some protection

Eat carrots, their calcium is was more available to your body than dairy.

Really, if you're worried about injury you should be out there working out and strengthening your core. That's about all that'll help prevent injury. Being a pussy will get you hurt. Do yoga.

This seems like a joke but its true.. I drink tons of milk and so far I've never broken a bone or even been close despite the stupid things I do.
