Stay out of backcountry

no shit! If you're trying to break trail right now it's silly... snowboarders wouldn't even stand a chance breaking trail with their snowshoes. as the avalanche website says: "When you're skinning through waist deep, you know there's a problem."
 
I've done a couple small tours over the past week or so and nothing was moving (no sluff or anything)...
yesterday at around 2:30 stuff was fracturing everywhere in bounds (we received 80cm of snow in 48 hours), today we woke up to +2C and the hill isn't opening today.
I'm very curious as to how the snowpack will react. time to go dig some pits and check it out tomorrow i guess.
 
I don't think the rain soaked all the way through.

It's really sketchy out there. Tomorrow on granite will be interesting.

i had a sweet day on sun peaks on monday. 35cm. didn't go to the backcountry because i was on my own and no beacon. inbounds was fun. i heard they were cross cutting the trails or whatever the technical term is for going back and forth across a run to check the snow. they said they do that if it falls 5cm even.
 
yea, there were avalanches that went onto the road at paulson pass and a size 4 at kootenay pass.
