Start thinkin about 06/07!

As you know our new skis (05/06) will be dropping in stores very soon! We are stoked on the new product, however we need to start thinking about new product.

We are debating on keeping the Stealth and Chopper names for the park ski models. As many of you know, having fresh products is important to making it in the ski industry. The ski will change a bit for next year obviously as we find ways to improve, and a new theme, graphic, promotion, ect may be a good idea.

What we would like from all of you are suggestions for new themes/graphics/names/you get my drift. We dont need to re-invent the ski, but perhaps jump into a new era.

Some things to stay away from:

Hip Hop-Overplayed

Military-duh!

Ninja/Samauri-played out too long ago

Violence/destruction-too many people affected by this today

Sexual content-The rossi scratch with the chick on them was cool, but not what Liberty is about. Keep it clean and mature.

Lastly, the most obvious, we don't want to do anything any ski company has done in the last few years. There are pleanty of other areas to explore, so get creative!

Thanks for your help as always! You guys all have a bit of creative contol on the new gear!

 
okay ... this may seem a little weird...

but after being a skier i'm an ENORMOUS nerd. and i've been thinking for a couple years that it would be hilarious to have skis that were all about math/physics in some way...like had the physics of someone going off a jump all written out in formula form, cause everything can be all calculated out right - like if you know the angle of the take off, how big the deck is you can easily figure out how fast to go...

anyways. that was a ramble. i've thought about how a geeky/science ski would be freaking hilarious.annnd i don't believe anyone's ever done anything like that! i totally think it could sell too. maybe not necessarily to the 15 and below age group, but to the 18+ like myself, perhaps.

just an fun idea. i can expand if you want. during non-winter-y times i'm a math student ;)
 
how bout do what armada is starting to do, instead of lines and weird patters make skiing art. have actual art on the skis... i think it would be really sick... but yeah
 
yah i agree, i love the actual art style painting on a ski. if we were able to get and artist or whatever to paint say mountains, urban, whatever it would look sick!
 
Wht if you had a theme thtat had to do with liberty in the sense of american history. I ve never seen it done before and ti would be a fresh idea.The C-note kind of played into that but you could expand on the idea.

i dont like the idea of doing something history based, just because.. i dunno.. just don't

with the art on skis thing.. that's what armada is all about and that's what 4frnt is doing next year too (painting of mtn scenes, etc).. i don't know about any of the other companies.

i know we dont want to copy snowboarding but it really helps to look at all the snowboard companies (the little guys mainly) because they're basically a lot larger ski, and their graphics are ALWAYS a lot sicker than skis...

another thing.. soft goods and stickers.. they are such an interest grabber, so i think they'd be really important to work on too.. i'm going to mess around in photoshop when i have time.. i suck at it though!!
 
with a new theme/graphic style the extra stuff like stickers and softgoods will follow suit.

I like the history idea a bit, and I like the blueprint idea. The thing is we sorta tried the blueprint idea with the lines and the linear "blueprint" of the stealth bomber.

Keep the ideas flowing, good stuff already in just a few hours.

We basically need to get this nailed in the next two weeks, and have a rough draft of the graphic and theme by Haloween. By Thanksgiving we should be sending these skis out to get made so we have them by US Open time.

i like the idea of jumbled math equations and such...seems like it could work for sure...another thing is you have to kind of decide if you want a simple graphic or if you want something all jumbled and complex and collage like...k2 and armada are kinda playing the jumbled look so it would be cool to have something fairly basic and simple that had a cool flow from tip to tail
 
And I really like the writing idea on the girl ski (royce's desgin). but maybe a bit different would be good cuz this one looks like the feminine Oakley appareil signature.. although its really cool.
 
I disagree, being a huge fan of brown as a color, I really like that ski design. Also, personally i'd rather see simple graphics than complex, and combinations of one or two colors rather than 15.
 
i also really like brown... what about brown and the libert is like a darkish yellow? yellow and brown go together like a fat kid and cake....
 
yah court i like that design - simplicity is beauuutiful.

i kind of like the one empty ski thing...it's not too often you'll be without the other one, so it's not like we won't be liberty-ing.

but yay math! don't let that idea die!
 
i know it's kinda girly but i like pink on brown background...

is there anyway we could get a zip file of the logos so we can mess around with them?
 
another thing that would be sick... make the whole site a big flash blueprint or something (next year)...
 
these are sick ideas, I think the general thought here is to keep it simple.

I like the math equations idea, but I think it could be more practicle as a t-shirt design rather than a ski.

I always thought that snow camo or something along those lines would be dope because its simple and chill. and it could have liberty in the camo somehow? If u can picture it I think thatd be dope, o and i dont know if a snowboard company has already done this or not, but have finger prints/marks where to grab on the skis, just havem be plain white with liberty in red on the bottoms and the topsheet just has the two blunt prints, high critcal nose etc...
 
john..the fingerprint idea is sick..i like that alot..but anything with camo is played in my opinion..and the cr's frmo salomon are snow camo anywho...so i just think that wouldnt work...but the finerprint idea is pretty sick

no offense to americans but i'm fairly canadian...you've had some fantastic presidents but i think you could find something better to put on a ski :)
 
k me being from canada, i really dont think the idea of american liberty will go over well at all in canada. ART, make people think about what the ski means to them, and what they see when they look at it.
 
I agree with the whole American history thing is a little much as we have international sales to consider.

I really like the mountain scene that Royce posted above. I think somthing like that could be tweaked to look really sick on our all-mountain line skis.

I agree with the art standpoint, however we do need to be careful not to make it look like we are following Armada and 4Frnt (all original artwork except Steele Spence pro, he is a graphic designer).

The fingerprints idea may be cool, but we dont want to tell anybody where to grab their skis. Part of the freedom of skiing is being able to do anything you want, including where you grab on your tricks!
 
we could have like finger print idea with criminal thing. all five fingers prints and then a crime but i know k2 is doin the crime thing but just an idea
 
something sick but far of doable would be come up with a topsheet where people can draw on it and then glue a protective thing over it. Not for all our ski, but make one of these just for fun!!!
 
The contest for graphic is getting played, but we could do a team one, where they draw a whole line, say all the pro twins..
 
Cities thats an aweomse idea. The San Fran New York Chicago boston montreal paris. that would be a great lineup i've never seen it done before either.
 
i love the city idea, i honeslty think it takes the cake, the cities look so sickm and for some you could take pics of liek naval force areas or of where the army trains, for a ksi like the stealth or chopper
 
I have been talking about that with Julien earlier this year. I think it would be a huge step if liberty would produce the first exclusive urban jib ski. I mean a ski with no edge and just a ruff plastic or whatever synthetic materiel core. A ski that could resist to any bad treatment at a low cost. So people don't mind to purchase a ski just for urban jib. Forum produced a board like this last year and I a lot of good comment. I think it would show how liberty is really dedicate to push the ski further.
 
i made a prototype jib only ski for an engineering class last year..i had the same idea exactly, i was completely going off the forum board idea^
 
haha that would be sick. you could name each ski after a prez. the kennedy, the clinton and the bush. then some how incorporate either them or a big thing that happened into the ski... like on a kennedy ski, you could have a grassy knoll...
 
I really like the one with the Bridge and the tree. Its sorta neat because it brings the focus onto two totally different things. And The one with the mtns above it, and the silhouette of the trees is sorta kool, but reminds me too much of the 4frnt MSP.
