#StabSnowboarders

you gotta admit tho, tagging the truck is a wee bit further than just calling skiers gay and flipping us off, it's not so easy to shrug off

Its been really occurring to me that the people who care about skiing vs snowboarding really don't matter. My best friend snowboards. At my shop everyone is friends regardless of whether they're a skier or snowboarder. The only people who care at this point are those completely ignorant of the other sport. Most of NS recognizes the importance of snowboarding to freeski culture. Most snowboarders who have half a brain understand there would be no snowboarding without skiing. Those not included in these categories are "ski only" fascists or "fuck skiers" edgy assholes. Shit just pisses me off.

With that being said, skiers shouldn't perpetuate this sort of behavior. Make the people who are too ignorant to accept others look bad and make everyone who loves to spend time on the mountain look ultra chill and accepting for the world to see.

especially since tall tees are one of the things that snowboarders pick out most to hate about skiers. it's just reinforcing a negative stereotype; they're going "hey, spray skiers, those neon-jacket-wearing, tall-tee-draped switch up lames," and in order to come back from that you make, of all things, tall tees? you couldn't give them any more of what they would want.

honestly, everyone just needs to have more of a sense of humor about the whole thing. lighten up. haha. spray skiers. it's kind of a funny thing. why let it bother you? i saw the original instagram and chuckled at it, and haven't thought about it again until i saw this thread.

This thread's good...

But really, it shouldn't be #stabsnowboarders it should be "fuck douchebags who have nothing better in their life to do but to be an asshole to other people based on prejudice and hate"

Boarders think tall tee's are gay? lets make a fucking tall tee with #stabsnowboarders on it.

Plus i kinda just want to wear it at parties..

Yes, rivalry is immature, whatever. Its also fun, and as long as it stays light hearted with people actually not getting emotionally attached, who even cares? I couldnt care less about the spray skiers shirts. Putting it on someones car might be kinda lame. but i may get one for my own car, cause i dont really care, and i think its kinda funny.

I think summer newschoolers just cares a little too much.

I am an Alta lifty and even though I really do get a kick out of turning away snowboarders, I think this whole thread is rather immature. There is no need to hate all snowboarders, just the dumbasses that feed off the whole skiers vs snowboarders shit. Honestly it's time to fucking let it go.

The only appropriate solution is to cover the Rome truck with these:

View attachment 651282

and maybe slash their tires

and rough a few people up

Seriously this. I'll admit tagging the truck was kinda childish and assholish on Romes part but against Saga? fucking christ of all "Ski" brands you have to get the outerwear brand that isn't just a solely skier brand in the first place.

This is exactly what rome wants, for this shit to blow up and have them rake in the money from asshat 1plank knuckle-dragging douchebags that think they are better then everybody else.

holy fuck. this guy sounds like a huge fucking twat. does windells management know that one of their diggers is heckling campers that pay out the ass to come spend a week at "the funnest place on earth"? if they don't I really hope that someone tells them for fucks sake.

Hahahaha.

That's super lame by Rome but whatever, there will always be dorks who think it's 1994 (notwithstanding that they started snowboarding in 2006)

This thread needs some of this:

We thought it was hilarious that our brand can get under someone like Rome's skin enough completely un provoked that they would go and do something like this. It was almost a sign saying Rome considers us a legitimate brand and a threat to their future business.

Either that or they are mad their had to cut their outerwear line and ours is flourishing.

I snowboard much more than I ski. I switched over about 10 years ago, and last year was the first time skiing for me since third grade. I was horrible, but I had a fucking fun time. That being said, the main reason I tried to ski... was because I'm pretty fed up with the snowboard stereotype that douchebag hesh snowboarders give off all of the time. So I was like, why not. I tried it, and thought it was too late to make a complete switch over. I ride with skiers about 90% of the time, because it just seems to me that they are so much more willing to do things other than bomb groomers and just hike the park all day. So where I'm at with the whole #stabsnowboarders thing is, go right ahead. I'd say the greater half of all snowboarders carries that attitude against skiers all the time. Just keep me out of it ;)

hey we spotted this when my friends and I were up at hood last week camping in govy. Had no idea who's truck it was or anything but thought it was kind of a funny sticker.

In the immortal words of John Belushi, "Don't get mad, get even."

Defacing a truck with stickers is in bad taste, but there's no need to stand idly by while they run a muck with their false sense of superiority. start up with the stab snowboarders stickers, I'd buy a couple. Personally I'd approach it like a frat house prank war. Sure it might get out of hand, but that's the fun of it.

It's weird to see such animosity between skiers and snowboarders still. there was 3 skiers and 4 snowboarders in our group and we would dog on each other just because it was funny.

Midwest kids don't care what way your sliding as long as you're out there to have a good time, can keep up, and want to carpool.

To Andy Parry and others in this thread

Why do you despise snowboarding?

and to Andy Parry, why the fuck do you hate it so much because it takes inspiration from skateboarding? Skiing has always taken inspiration from snowboarding but I don't see you writing that down. The modern dub cork was pioneered by JP Walker and David Benedek, there wouldn't be rails for you to do your stupid knee twisting tricks on if it wasn't for snowboarding who brought parks to the mountains, the powder ski design directly takes from snowboarding, the rodeo was taken from snowboarding, the same with corks, mistys (front rodeo), pipe tricks. Although it takes from skateboarding style, like baggy or skinny, skiers take these styles 3 years later. Skiing also takes from skateboarding, like stalefish, truck driver (rocket air on skate/board), lip slides etc. And you say Snowboarding is the pussy version of skateboarding, well, your tricks are the pussy version of Scotty Vine and Scott Stevens, and if you don't know who they are, look them up, because they go a million times harder than you with way more creativity.

Now I know Rome are douchebags, but so are you for your fucking stupid opinions and the rest of the people in this thread.

You dumb for one thing. So let me take this slow.

First off Andy Parry and the rest of the people in here dont hate snowboarding as a whole. You just glanced at this and then started to write without really reading the underling problem. That problem was stated as, "Dick hole snowboarders need to stop thinking they are cooler then skiers".

I made a strong comment that was aimed at the "Dick Holes of snowboarding" NOT snowboarding as a whole. It was a logical progression that goes threw my head when I hear the dick holes poke fun of skiers.

So yeah chill bro. I dont hate snowboarding as a whole just the dick holes. That comment could have been aimed as dick hole skiers. Does that mean I hate skiing?

About the dub corks your kinda wrong..... Skiers did dubs before snowboarding and set the precursor to snowboard dubs.

Corks, Mistys, Rodeos ect... Sure yeah they snowboarding trick names. Have you heard of roller skating? That thing that most skiers think are gay and isn't in style anymore? Roller skating had mistys, corks, flairs, japan grabs, rocket airs, ect... Basically its just like skiing. So yeah names have been stolen from snowboarding (really skateboarding) but the fundamental basics for any skiing trick is from roller skating.

"your tricks are the pussy version of Scotty Vine and Scott Stevens"

Are they? Considering they are on snowboarders and doing 100% different tricks I dont see who my tricks are in the same realm as theirs. Almost every trick I do can really only been done in skiing. Only a few of my tricks are taken from roller skating but almost 100% different because they are 8 times longer then blades.

"and if you don't know who they are, look them up, because they go a million times harder than you with way more creativity. "

I do know who they are that's why I'm so confused.... I'm also not trying to be:

1. A snowboarder

2. In a competition with Scotty Vine or Scott Stevens

3. 1,000,000 times harder then me? Really? More 3 or 4 times harder.

Thats like saying I suck because I'm not doing trip corks. When I was never trying to do them.....

You didnt even read the thread man. No one said anything about hating snowboarding in its entirety.

We can argue day and night about who takes inspiration from who, but it all leads back to skateboarding and surfing. Much of the elitist skier-hater attitude stems from the rebellious skateboard mentality of hating on rollerbladers. Not only are snowboarders copying the tricks from skaters, but snowboarders are literally just copying the hate from skateboarders. It makes no sense. Skiers and snowboarders are both attached to their platforms and riding the exact same features.

Its really fuckin sad that the dickhead snowboarders who pioneered the "stop skiing" and "spray skiers" fad get their panties in a twist as soon as there's some backlash from skiers. If they can't take the joke, then dont dish out in the first place. I put all those snowboard queers in the Crybaby crew if they are getting butthurt over a ridiculous #stabsnowboarders hashtag. Grow the fuck up.

1. Powder ski design was taken from logic, not a snowboard design. Wider = more float. Anyone with half a brain would have figured that out regardless of snowboard design.

2. The ski trick names you listed that were "copied" from snowboarding are the exact trick names that snowboarders "copied" from skateboarding. A name is a name... does it really matter?

3. Double corks were pioneered by skiers. Look up a 'risky flip' or a 'wilson flip' and the Schrab brothers

4. I have no idea where you are going with the Scott Stevens/ Scotty Vine thing...If skiers are catching hate for doing "Andy Parry" tricks then its the most hypocritical thing on earth... Snowboarders literally film segments doing One-foot snowboard tricks and riding in childrens playgrounds.... Lets be real....

***** also to anyone who is wondering, the #StabSnowboarders on my skis is not actually a sticker, i drew it on with a paint marker. I have no intention of making stickers or pursuing this any further. *****

Lies. Powder skiing/snowboarding is just a rip off of waterskiing. Those fuckers figured out how to float on melted snow in the 1920s.

thanks pete.

i know a bunch of dudes at rome first hand and they're all pretty cool and always give me a high five whether i see them at esox in burlington or in the back woods at stowe.

don't hate on rome, they're mostly good dudes who make $30k a year and are going to be out of a job in a couple years. major bummer.

...at least they haven't gone crawling back to a market they abandoned in 2008 like anon (burton).

I think some of this "hate" is coming back because snowboarding is on the decline and skiing is on the rise.

I was at Windells when this all happened and I live on the west coast and don't really get out to alot of other resorts so when I saw the stickers other campers had on the board saying "spray skiers" I was a little offended, not because Im a smothered little bitch but because some snowboarders are assholes and will do these disrespectful things while i'm trying to enjoy my peace while i'm skiing. I think Steve Stepps comeback was appropriate and Romes marketing is a little fucked, make boards not wars.

Snowboarders started the tall tee thing on the hillside! Haha. And as far as I can remember at many mountains I skied last year, lots of snowboarders still wear tall tees (or tall crewnecks, or tall jackets or tall WAFFLE threads etc). I second Andy's comment of the nature of doing either sport. You have money and opportunities and are a member of a lucky few that get to strap something to their feet, freeze your ass off and slide down snowy slopes. Snowboarders and skiers are so alike in that sense compared to 99% of the rest of civilization, get over your first world problems.

There are dickhead snowboarders and dickhead skiers. There are dickhead people in all walks of life. As soon as you conclude a Windells story about 1 dude named Derrick with, "This is the reason I hate snowboarders." you are contributing to the problem. You are assuming Derrick is like this because he is a snowboarder, when in fact hes just an idiot... who happens to center his life around snowboarding.

Agreed w/ @PDrago indeed also, making tall tees with anti-snowboarding shit in a direct response to a goofus feud is awful. Why don't we spend our time making better videos, more creative gear and cooler skiing. Skiing seems to have done just fine up until now working on our shit.

Don't ski in bright XXXL clothing if you don't want to hear somebody talk about you. There are dick heads in every sport; if they don't give a fuck then why should you.

I am not going to /claim to have read this whole thread because I havent, but if people want to make some #stabsnowboarders stickers Ill take a few for the lulz. To those of you getting in a philosophical debate over whether or not this is perpetuating a bad image for skiing let me remind you of this. People get severly injured every year because their favorite sports team didnt win, so they decided to do something like start a bar fight or riot over something they are not even connected to, I think a little #stabsnowboarders sticker on the helmet or skis isnt going to really be that negative of an affect, when the culture we live in is totally ok with cities lighting themselves on fire when a basketball team wins/loses/fucksitself.

Relax, make some stickers, sell them on the NS store, lol at butthurt snowboarders.

I can only imagine how well a stab snowboarders sticker would go over on my helmet as a ski instructor.

I havent read any of this thread but I saw the shit on instagram but I can understand that its jokes taken entirely too far. Some snowboarders are ridiculously immature when it boils down to it, sure some joking hate between the two is fine if its friendly but from what I did skim through in this thread I saw stuff about the High Cascade people. From what I know they're not even very liked by alot of the snowboard community. GBP crew got into a big bar fight with them from what I read because they have the attitude that they're better than everyone. I dont know if GBP is a huge fan of skiers but Lefter used to ski and they have skiing (Some Andy Parry lol) in super old edits but if skiers care about respect from any snowboarders GBP is the only crew to care about in having our backs haha.
