Stabilizer recommendations

I am looking to buy a new stabilizer rig for my canon t4i. i am going to be filming skiing. any recommendations? thanks.
 
A fig rig will never be as good. Stabilizers are just like tripod and glass, worth saving your money for. Nothing replaces a legitimate stabilizer like a glide cam.
 
I completely agree, but if you're 12 and only have 20 bucks to your name, it does a better job then shooting hand held.
 
Also a fig rig doesn't stabilize, it simply gives two wide points to hold, dampening vibrations.
 
the glidecam isnt rocket science.

agreed with eheath - the actual glidecams (name brand) are totally worth it, but if you dont have the money, make one - its super easy

also just as important, make sure you properly weight that DIY glidecam (insert youtube) and learn a few basics about how to use it.

enjoy first and foremost and have a passion for videography.
 
Technically you could say yes, but really no, with a glidecam it's not only dampened but the camera doesn't really move with your hand, because with the gimbal you can move your hand up and down or side to side quite a bit before the camera itself moves. But with a stabilizer the camera is fixed.
 
this is unrelated to this thread but I am in a spiting whirlwind of rage right now, I just shot a 25th wedding anniversary with magic lantern installed on my 60d on a 16gb class 10 94mbs card and all of my shots are completely ruined, they are incredibly over pixelated. I tested it out with my other card also with ML and it's definitely the card and not the camera, and I have never had this problem in the past. I am so disappointed right now lol. didn't think it was thread worthy just needed to rant somewhere.
 
Comes with the dude so you can focus on directing.

no offense man but stop asking us to spoon feed you information. Do you think you need a mic? Do some tests and see if you want better audio. Dont let others make decisions for you... damn. Don't wanna do tests? Do a google search /problem solved
 
inb4 brent callow preaching for fig rigs......but if you look at the 403MEDIA videos, they are all shot on fig rigs, and it looks pretty smooth. I my self could not use a fig rig, i just like the smoothness of my glide cam. I would suggest the 2000 HD, but even the 2000PRO would work if your short on bank. i bought a 2000PRO from bikemlatt for a good price, and even though its a bitch to balance, it gets the job done
 
it wasn't intentional, I was on Magic Lantern and I was messing around with stuff and when I was done I put it back to 0.1 instead of 1.0 by accident. so basically I recorded in 1/10th the bit rate
 
yah, i get your point, but when i am buying such expensive stuff i really dont want to make a decision i will regret later.
