St. mary's glaceir, berthoud pass

Im driving though colorado on my way to the tetons to see my sister and I want to ski so bad while Im going through. What's the deal with st. mary's glacier? Are there any rails set up or booters or anything? I just want to ski, so I don't care, but it'd be nice to hit a rail without using tarps, dish soap and water. Also, is there enough snow on berthoud pass to make a couple of runs at the top? It really doesn't have to be anything special, just something that isn't boring on the side of the road. Im going to be there around june 28-29 so if anybody wants to meet up and ski, that would be really sick.

Also if there's any snow left at a basin or loveland pass, let me know. thanks.

currenly theyre installing a lift at abasin so youd get kciked in the nuts if yuo tried to ski there. anyway, the last time i hiked mary's was in september, and it was about a 45min hike over some rocks and stuff, but not a bad hike at all. plus the sight of snow kept us moving quick...when i was there in sept. there was a 15 ft single barrel with 1.5 ft support bars with no feet on them, so it kinda fell over after 20 hits, we also built a jump over some rocks which was fun as hell, but this was in august so idk what its like in june, i assume more snow...dont know if the rail is still there. you said u will be the june 28th? ill try to round up a posse and head up there, i wouldnt mind hitting some shitty rail in almost july, plus im sure i wont have a problem gettign a posse together...keep in touch, ill let you know!

in mid-may pike's peak had a SHIT TON of snow. dunno how much is left, but there was more than enough to ski a bunch of lines... all with mandatory air exits though. i doubt berthoud has much.

i've got a rail and a box... i may be up for a st mary's session. message me closer to the date you wanna go or something

dude, skierjulie, i will take you up on that offer! im thinking and NS session of st marys on june 27/28? mayb? are these boxes and rails easy to carry/light?

alright sick. An ns session would be sick.

Would yall be able to wait a little while for the actual date. Were driving from atlanta to jackson hole and leaving on the 26, so I hope to be in co around the 28th, but Im not sure, cause we dont have it all planned yet. But I should have a better idea in a week or too.

But if we got some rails up there and maybe a booter, I would be incredibly happy.

Let me know if theres anything I can do to help.

yea they are. my buddy has the box. i gotta get it from him, which is proving more difficult than i thought for some reason. but yea... i hope i dont have to work those days.

haha yes! The hike isnt to to bad...ive been on worse...id suggest wearing hiking shoes to walk then put on the gear when we see snow, its really rocky hikke

Alright sweet. Its looking more and more like Ill be there the 29th. Ill prob be tired as hell from driving so much, but if Im there at the right time, I wouldn't mind helping to bring rails and boxes up.

the 29th? can you be there any earlier? i was trying to get the 27 or 28th off from work. you want the 29th? Lets make this official so i can get off from work!

Let's go with the 28th again actually. I can prob leave a little earlier, but not much. I'm looking at getting there sometime around 12pm on the 28th. The problem is my family wants to camp on the way out there. I just want to drive straight there.

Anybody know any campgrounds nearby?

you can camp at the base of the glacier next to the pond. i did it once and it was pretty nasty weather though. it rained, was really windy, and there is absolutely no firewood up there so you need to bring a hatchet or something.

dude, you have to take off work, its a week and a half away, can you ask for it off/have someone fill in for you! this is very important! and when does it snow in the summer? your work will find you out if you only take sick days when it snows, you gotta mix it up a little~

i'll see what i can do. if i can't get off work, if someone is near boulder, they're welcome to pick up my rail and box.

I camped up there once too with shitty weather. had to make a fire in the rain/snow on a freezing cold morning, finally got it going afer about an hour, it sucked so def be prepared

i'll try to make it, i don't know if i'll be able to get out of the springs though since i don't have a car and am unsure if i'll be able to borrow one.

Alright, tell all your buddies and make them come with you, i mean how hard can it be to persuade someone to ski in almost july!? We gotta get a big crew here!
