srt-4 ownage

so the other day i got ownt by a srt-4 neon while driving my 85 monte carlo SS. Any suggestions to up my HP with a 4k budget? and i dont want a turbo...

here is a list of what i already have:

-new 350 gm crate engine

-4 barrel demon carburator

-new mallory distributor

- radiator

- clutch fan

- belts and hoses

- H2O, fuel pump

- shocks

- headers and complete exhaust

NOS, that'll blow the pants off anyone especially with that 350. I don't know how much it costs though, but really, I can't see it being more than 4 grand.

 
NOS is NOT the best thing for your car, and it isnt permanent.

and the problem with getting a bigger engine is that i might need a new chasis that can take the stress of the engine weight. i think that the safest bet would be a supercharger...

I just saw an srt-4 at mcdonalds. I f-ing love that car. I've been seeing this guy a lot lately and he always floors it out of places and you can hear that turbo spool up and it's like an instant orgasm... Maybe you should just give in and get a turbo or a supercharger. Forced induction's the only way to make that huge ass power.

srt4s are funkin fast man.. when they first came out caliming low 14s I called bullshit but I got showed.. as for you I'd suggest looking into a head package,some good tires, a tune and some driving lessons.

supercharge it. or you can buy a new car. SRT-4, WRX, or the new chevy colbalt supercharged. i have a WRX its a sexy beast.

 
the engine had already been upped to a 350 v8 from a 287 v8, i am leaning toward a super charger. now i need to decide whether i should get a cowl induction hood or a ram air system. and maybe i will have to look more into a twin turbo set up. keep in mind this car weighs about 2 tons...

i've got a 2 door old school (96) impreza...... it handles like a champ, and i can out-DRIVE just about anyone in it, it's just that the 1.8L engine sucks for power. which is why i don't slow down for corners anymore!

if that engine ever goes, i'd probabaly try to swap in a 2.5 turbo.

get a few things for the rear end, so you can get traction, cuz lets face it it doesnt matter how much hp you have( well it does) but if all you do is burn through the 1st few gears theres no point. if you do some fine tuning back there you could make it faster just by having it hook up better, it helped my car a shit load

 
dude dont get any kind of forced induction before you get some forged internals. after that you should be ok but watch your boost. id also recommend a good set of heads, cam, intake manifold. w. a new 350 you do have a lot of room to add naturally aspriated hp. id find a goof chevy forum tho and see what others have done.

i do like the bang for the buck on the srt-4 but it still cracks me up at how much of a neon it is... with the the highest options package you still cant get power windows for the rear doors.

 
ya id had say get forged internals for sure, a kid i no got a blower for his truck and didnt do shit to the internals and lets just say his truck doesnt run right now

 
well, we all knw how this works, you have too build the thing solid inside before you make it beefy outside. fharvercougar, you know me, i can help you with all this stff. but one thing is for shure, the induction system would be a big waste of money theres pleanty of space in you bay too do a lot, i think the first thing you need to do is build the bottom and top ends. you need to get a new crank, flywheel for the bottom. in the top end you need new valves, springs, retainers, rockers, rollers, cams, cam gears, pullys, valve covers, cylinder sleves, pistions, pistion heads, rings, and gaskets. if your smart youll rebuild the whole thing first. and that will give you more power straight away.

^ couldnt he gain more power with some aftermarker heads(not headers) because they will have better flow designs AND better valves and such. also another idea could be go for the bore and stroke... cause theres no replacement for displacement as the old saying goes

 
ya if hes replacing the internals he mine as well stroke the thing, stroker kits have forget pistons and rods, and get his motor blue printed, ported polished heads, theres lots you could do before going to a superhcarger

 
Weight is a factor in that matchup. If i was you, I wouldnt do anything more to my 'classic'. But what I would do with 4 g's is go out and buy a piece of shit looking car that has a good running motor, you can do this for like $200-$500, then dump the other $3,500 into extras and if you are careful with your budget and do some research you can build a nasty pocket rocket.

A good car of choice for this would be a VW Golf, older eclipse/talon/laser or an older integra. You want to buy something that you can strap a nice turbo onto. And then beat that faggot in his DODGE!!!! hahaha
