Squaw Valley help

I'm moving to Squaw from Utah for the next winter season. Where's the best place to find a cheap studio nearby and when's the best time to get one? Is Squaw's season pass worth it or are there any good combo passes besides the Sugarwood available? I really want to make Alpine Meadows and Squaw my home resorts next year. Any info would help.

i don't know that much about squaw..........yet i ski at Alpine sometimes and it's a pretty bomb mountain, and the pass was only $199....keep checking the local newspapers (Tahoe Daily Tribune)to see whats available. Good Luck!

thats the young adult rate if you buy in the fall... so if youre 13-22, youre in luck... unfortunatly for me they introduced that deal the year that i turned 23... oh well...

i'm 23 too but i look like i'm 17. are the people at alpine meadows pretty careful at checking ID's like they are in Utah? that's a damn good price for a season pass.

My friend moved to Tahoe for the seaon and he found a really cheap place practically on the lake in King's Beach. It's about 10 minutes from Northstar and half hour from Squaw. Yeah Squaw is cool but not $1,200 season pass cool. That Alpine pass is pretty damn cheap and there is a Northstar, Sierra pass also for 199.

$1200 shit dude i was hoping to head to Squaw next season too.

So what's medows like then? Do you have to be a local to get there cheap rates or what?

alpine is just as good in terms of the mountian... i dont think their pipe ever measures up to squaw, but whatev... they are both great mountians...

Squaw is freakin amazing and the pass is way worth it compared to northstar.

WEll Alpine seems like the best bet to me. They have really simular terrain to Squaw just not as much of it and there park seems pretty sweet. And for $1,000 less I think that pretty much solves the problem right there. If I move to Tahoe next summer I know that's what I'm doing because I'am sure as hell not going to pay that much for a pass.

Alpine has as much if not more terrain then squaw if you know where you're going. And you're not going to find a studio cheaper then 500 a month and that would be pretty cheap.

^May be worth it, but no one can afford it. Alpine's pass is 4 times cheaper than Squaws with comparable terrain, and in my opinion, a better park (lift accessed).

Yeah I make like 3 runs at alpine by the time I've made maybe 1 at Squaw? Sound right? anyways 199 Pass for teenagers by a certain date. Its a pretty sweet deal..plus the park improves every year. You can expect great things next year.

ok, so seeing as i do live in tahoe, here's the deal...

kings beach: cheap, you can get good condos for an OK rate there, but it is known as little mexico....you're about 20 mins from squaw and alpine, and maybe 25 from homewood

tahoe city/ dollar hill: more up-scale expensive housing, prob wouldn't want anything from here, but if you have a bunch of people, some of the rentals in dollar point are another ok deal... only 15 mins from squaw or alpine,

west shore(talmont, sunnyside etc...) getting cheaper, but still not as cheap as kb,

tahoma: the central ski bum paradise, it's nothing special, but there will be the cheapest condos over there.still about 15 mins from alpine or squaw, but within walking distance from homewood.

squaw: by far the biggest mt in tahoe (obviously...)with 2 sometimes 3 parks, this is the place to be, as well as one, sometimes 2 pipes and a superpipe. the only tahoe resort open for night skiing

alpine:cheaper than squaw, but also smaller. although, personally i like alpine b/c there aren't so many tourists as there are in squaw,

homewood: the smallest of all 3, has one park, sometimes a pipe, but the chairs are all slow...

if you have any other ?'s, let me know

~welcome to squawllywood~
