Squaw + Alpine = Done... really?

I've heard a lot of runors around Tahoe lately... more serious than most... and now Unofficial just posted this: http://unofficialnetworks.com/squaw-valley-buys-alpine-44221/

One rumor I heard was that if you've bought a pass already it's going to be an active double pass... I'd be damn stoked. Heard something about a White Wolf (the private land between KT and Alpine) being leased as well... rumors run strong around here but... shit.

Shit. I've always thought of how epic it would be to combine all three of those areas together. I still don't think this will make me regret getting a Mammoth pass.

Just created a resort that rivals Whistler in size and terrain, and with SPT now at Squaw, wow. thanks for the sando Josh, shit was delish

damn that's going to be a mega resort. Is it possible to traverse between the two? It would be crazy sick to be able to drop OB at alpine, ski over to squaw and then take the lift up to do it again.

The thread title led me to believe that squaw and alpine were going under....I was way sad, as skiing squaw is on my bucket list.

But alas, I rejoice, as the beautious resort that is squaw shall continue its reign of majesty.

man, besides the sierra cement, they are both really really sick resorts. have you seen the jumps at alpine meadows? picture perfect. nohajs on ns is the park builder and every feature is awesome. not to mention the thousands of cliffs you can jump off at both resorts combined.

pretty sure Squaw hired SPT for the season... I'd say the best thing is that both get rad parks and Jonahs gets to keep doin what he's doin... and TRAINS keeps happening.

What do you do at Alpine? Most people dont find out about shit like this until its official. That being said it is probably just a rumor. If squaw really did buy alpine they would be letting the whole world know about it.

Sorry my joke was not accepted like I was hoping that it would be. I have never even skied either. Hell I have never even been to that part of the country,

Haha, when I read your comment I also assumed you were serious(I have no idea why). Now that I think about it for even a second its quite obvious it was a joke. But, more importantly this is SICK NEWS.

no. they hired SPT for special occasions for bobby brown and simon dumont. The rest of the season there was nothing over 35 feet. New ownership made squaw a "family resort" and eliminated the park program.

woooooooow squaw is about to be the rawest again.....damn i wanna take a winter off in tahoe now. shit is about to be so damn real...with boreal having that camp too tahoe is about to be the most hoppin spot ever.

You do know that kirkwood teamed up with alpine for a pass. If those two did something awesome with kirkwood I think the world would explode. 3 of the best big mountain ski areas in the us under 1 pass? Universe explosion.

KSL owns squaw, JMA owns (or potentially owned?) alpine

SPT was reported to be in charge of all of squaws park stuff this year, not just for special events, so that should be sick

otherwise i wish they would release this damn press release so we can stop speculating and start celebrating one way or another!

are you gonna be skiing at bear mountain at all?

this is awesome news even though ill probably only ski at sugarbowl over winter break

Well I know for a fact if you buy a pass for kirkwood you get alpine and homewood. and vice versa.

I don't think sqauw is a part of the pass. Which blows, cause that was really an extra plus.

OMG that would be too much awesome. This is awesome enough...but Kwood too?

im gonna post here again. just because this is that epic. Tahoe is getting such a fat upgrade. first, heavenly and northstar joined up, then boreal got the new woodward thing going on so you know its gonna be way more legit...and now squaw and alpine? tahoe sounds kinda like heaven (for you religious folk out there).

I've heard there are news trucks already there. Pretty sure it's happening if people are already trying to get the story.
Smart smart move... specially since I'm probably/hoping that I'll be in Tahoe next year with a big kid job.
Although the sad thing is is that CO companies are picking up all the Tahoe resorts and lots of changes are happening that aren't all for the best. Closing terrain that usually stays open, setting closing dates, lowering season pass prices and so forth. I know it sounds like lowering season pass prices is a great idea, but it causes things like closing terrain and so forth.
Kinda wondering what will happen to Mammoth. Hope it doesnt hurt too much.

Simultaneously awesome and not awesome. I wonder what'll come of it; I hope for the best—and the best will be awesome. I'm just curious as to whether Alpine will take on the Squaw crowd after Squaw's skied out...

didn't think about that, would be kinda shitty, being able to work for some amazing turns the day after is one of the reasons i love alpine
