Sprained broken thumbs

anyone know how to aviod this some kind of brace or something let me know ... instant message me would be great. thanks. 1 out of 5 times skiing i either break it or soprain it both hands

yea man i did that 2 times alrady it fucking hurts still a month later

nothing u can really do about it just hope u dont do it again

my right thumb is always hurting during ski season. Sometimes i can barely bend it, and other times it only hurts a little, but i've learned to just deal with it. I dislocated it twice last season, and whenever i tweak it now, the pain returns, but that's life.

I broke and sprained my thumb last year, and I got a nifty brace thinger from the doctor, it is basically a plasic mold of my hand but with a tube you put your thumb in so it can't move and can't get tweaked funny. I wore it under my glove and it worked fine, i could still grip my poles and everything. just go to the hospital and ask them for some sort of brace so you don't sprain your thumb again.

i sprained my thumb this year doing a nollie. hurt like a bitch for two weeks and now all of the swelling has gone down but some pain remains.

i think thos poles wiht the little strap thingy that pops off when pressure is put on it, i think it would work cus i always jam my thumb against my grip

burton makes the impact glove idk if it would help thumb but i know it has extra support in the wrist maybe up there too

Just ride without the straps on your poles.

Really, I broke my thumb every season before I started doing this. I still get an occasional strain, but much rarer... Only problem is you have to pick up your poles every time you bail, but that's better than breaking your thumb every time you ride...

Anyone else doing this?

One thing that I try to do is grip my pole with my thumb on top the grip. Then when I fall my thumbs not hanging out the side ready to get snapped off.

go to a brace specialist i have 4 pins in my thumb that shit breaks if i walk wrong... the doc will costom fit your thumb there like 75$. if your tired of broken thumbs this is where its at...

i keep refracturing that same thumb over and over it hapened like 8 times now, caqnt do much to stop it. all u can do is try to avoid to land on ur hands

Cut off the topp plastic piece of your pole. The one that the polestrap are attached to. On most poles it is wider than the rest of the grip and this will make your thumb get fucked up between the plastic thing and the snow or whatever you hit your thumb on. This causes a lot of thumb strains!

If they would just bring something on the market, like the integrated wrist protecters for the boarders. Now you have to really look for some kind of protection. I just broke my thumb and now i'm stuck in a plaster for 4 weeks. IT SUCKS

i dont wear the straps in the park. its better to have to get ur poles if u fall then have a broken thumb
