Sprained ankles

I keep spraining my ankle skating, apparently after the first time you have a 30-70% chance of re-doing it. Iv done it about 5 times in the last month, two times in the past week.. and it swells up afterwards and i cant walk on it for a few days.

Anyone have experience with this? don't won't to cause permanent damage because then i can't ski yet i want to keep skating. Any ankle braces that work?

it would help if you gave it a week. just take a solid weed off, and chill out. film, toke or do some bullshit like that.

a week off doesn't really do much.. iv taken three weeks off but still proceed to do it the next time i skate. Def gonna try some exercises to strengthen it.

wrap your ankles before you skate... if youre really concerned you can buy ankle braces for reasonable prices at just about any sporting goods store

Rest is good after you sprain it but you have to do some simple rehab exercises once its healed to strengthen it back up. You can't just go from resting it to jumping straight back into action, that would definitely increase your chances of re-injuring it.

The same thing happens to me, i sprained my ankle at the beggining of the ski season last year and now every time i fall on my ankle i sprain it again, fucking sucks

proprioception exercises. practice balancing on firm and unstable surfaces, keep that gastroc complex stretched out, and make sure you have full ROM. Put a towel around your toes, and pull lightly to increase your dorsiflexion. SO seriously just work on range of motion and balance exercises, thats ankle rehab in a nutsack

i sprained mine skating and couldn't skate for like a month, then sprained it again in track. basically do stretches and exercises and go barefoot until its strong again

I've heard that it takes some sprains longer to FULLY heal than some breaking off bones. Get the ankle supports things and take it easy until you are sure about it.

I just sprained my ankle wake boarding. It sucks not being able to do the things you want to because of what seems like such a minor injury.

this X 10. also RICE anytime you fuck up a joint. (rest, ice, compression, elevation) and always wrap that shit up even when you're not playing sports for awhile. if you keep fucking it up without letting it heal (sometimes 3 weeks isn't enough depending on the sprain) it will completely tear and that is the worst. a sprain is just micro-tears in a ligament anyway. if you keep using the weakened ligament it's gonna blow.
