Spotting your landing

Alright this is probably going to be confusing as hell and I dont know if anyones going to be able to relate but I need some information on this as I hope to keep progressing my skiing. i've been into park skiing a little more seriously over the past two years and i'm just not sure if I really have the physical 'air awareness' that I should. Every video and trick tutorial I have seen always mentions the importance of spotting your landing as a crucial step in completing the trick. With the inverts such as fronts rodeos and mistys that ive been trying this year I land like maybe half of the time which makes it feel like i'm just straight up hucking. I obviously keep my eyes open but it seems like once i leave the lip of the jump everything happens so fast that I never actually see the landing and from what people say it seems like they can see how much time they have to complete the trick.

I notice the same thing with just spins like a 360, 540, 720 and so on. I feel like the only reason I can do the rotation I want is from set memory of how hard I need to set the trick. So it's not completely hucking because I know how hard i need to set the rotation but its like once im in the air everything just happens by itself Is that just normal? Because from what i've seen it looks like a lot of people rely on knowing where the landing is to determine if they need to open up to slow down or keep tucked. And i'm guessing with bigger tricks like double corks air awareness and spotting your landing is really important.

SPARKNOTES: I think my air awareness is just fucked in general and i need some tips on how to improve this.

Hopefully I don't sound like a complete idiot. Still pissed about breaking my thumb yesterday and hucking tricks doesnt seem to be the best way to learn for me..

practice doing 3's and spotting then move up to 5's and 7's id say do 10 3's no grab just spotting and then 10 5's and then 10 7's when you can do 10 of each knowing were you are every single time then you can move on to doning harder shit

What you refer to as air awareness will usually only occur when you're not hucking tricks. I find that if I spin say a 360 on a jump that is 50 ft I can spot my landing. However, if I were to huck a 900 on a 50ft jump, I would have no idea what was happening. Of course this is all in my opinion.

Yea the first few times I 360 and 180 the kickers at my resort I knuckled. Just do a few of them get the feel for speed and how fast you need to spin to get the trick with the amount of air time you have and keep trying to find your landing every time. Then send it!

you really can't spot your landing on a frontflip...unless you do a superman and with rodeos and mistys, it's definately crucial to spot your landing. and its a lot easier to spot landings with rodeos because it's a backside trick. same rule would apply to a backflip vs. frontflip.
