Sponsorships

hey, i'm probably gonna make a promo vid this year and send it around along with all the other stuff you would send in to get signed...

i was wondering if any of you had any tips on things to put in the resume' that might look good, and maybe some warnings for things NOT to put in it... i'd appreciate. late

Hey dude,, baically all you have to do to get signed,, is send in a good video.. If you are good, then prove it on the video,, that,, adn making a good impression and the rep, is about the only thing that'll help.. Don't tell them anything about how good you are,, just show em'......

sell the rep some of your finest coke for a really good price (or if you want a lot of free shit - don't change him)

'today's show is brought to you by the letter... ...Joint' big bird.

ya, alpentalik should know what he's talking about, he's sucked, swallowed, and fondled many a reps cock.

DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR ADVANTAGES TO THE SPONSORSHIP!

talk about what YOU can do for THEM!

THEY are the ones who are signing YOu for THEIR purposes, you have to say you will do sooo much stuff for them, and then actually do it.

its all abotu the company, not you.

and keep them updated all season abotu comps and new tricks and injuries(9maybe) etc.

The more stuff you give them the better. Pictures, resumes, videos, ect. And keep on them and keep in touch with them. They usually have a lot on their minds so they tend to forget about things. Tell them what you can do to promote their company. Also show them that your way stoked about their company and tell them your way interested. If you do all those things I’m sure you can get some type of sponsorship

unless of course you're a shitty skier.

'Ah don' wanna talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food-trough wiper! Ah fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!

should it be mixed up with big mountain and park /pipe?

what if its only tricks and you cant tell if you can ski big mountain does that matter

This is fuck'n burgertime bitch and this is fuck'n omar, so sit back grab your dick with a motherfuckin Gangsta

grip, cuz this shit is for rizzle my nizzle

il lâche son grab et tourne la tête en direction du

landing pour enchaîner la deuxième phase du 360°.

just bust out whatever video you think is good. i mean, if your trying to get sponsored for park shit, then why put in big mountain? but whatever works...pics and a resume telling about yourself, your history, in comps and shit, and what you plan to do, not only for you, but what you could do for the company.

'When I'm mad as fuck you get shot and to some it's bad luck, I believe you held something back for too long, it grew strong and energy got its own will, and people think that we make music still, but music is there without you or me we just minipulate for better or worse so let it situate.'

give them everything you have got, they would probably be more likely to sign someone if they can ski everywhere because it means you will advertise for them to a wider variety of people.

*andy- because they want to see that you wont go big mountain and make a fool of yourslef-and more importnatly, their stuff

if you have a lot of the companies stuff already, show them in the vid, so they see you already support them

and like for my vid, i'll put in me dj'ing, sking, water ramping, everything i do. soccer, etc, to show that i can rock their shit everywhere and promote them off the hill

things a potential sponsor would like to see:

comps you have been in or plan to be in,

photographers you work with,

work history,

other sponsors,

plans for the future.

personally, i think too many people are worried about getting sponsored. fuck it, just ski because it is fun and it is something you like to do. if your good you will get picked up.

well, i didnt put any big mt riding in my promo vid...and look where its got me...i just got on with k2, and sessions

Yeah, I'll be the first to tell you that a resume isn't worth the paper its written on these days. I know a ton of kids with stacked resumes that still aren't worth the free product they're hooked with. At the same time, I know a ton of kids with no comp results, but MAD skill and style that could easily get sponsored if they went about it the right way.

Long story short, just put together a promo vid and get it out to the right people, and if you've got what it takes you shouldn't have a problem getting your foot in the door.

Just go to the park, look for the best skier there, film him all day secretly, take the best shots and send them in as yourself. Simple.

no you are all wrong you gottta go to their head quarters with a big hammer and be like ' you fuckers don't you know who i am, give me free shit!!!!' then start smashing things...works everytime

I don't want the world, I just want your half.

I saved Latin, what did you do?

you have about a .01% of a chance of picking up a sponsor just by sending them something. you gotta meet the reps and get to know them. show them that you travel everywhere with the industry, go to the comps that they go to (and show them your skills) go to the photo shoots (superpark, parkasaurus, etc) and pretty much make yourself known to them. THEN, sit down with them and talk to them about what you have been doing and why you want to ride for them. i'm telling you that reps for companies get so much crap from so many kids that they are likely to throw your shit in the trash without even looking at it, especially if they don't even know who you are. it's a shitty game and you have to expect to get kicked in the ass all over the place before you even get a little respect. and i'm gonna tell you right now, unless you know you are worthy to ride with the big boys, it's not worth your time and energy and feelings to try to get hooked up because it's not gonna happen. look at reedy, he wasn't getting shit from companies and he is on the goddamn cover of freeze magazine. that should give you a clue as to how fucking ridiculous the ski industry is.

oh, and to add one more thing, getting a little bit of free shit from some local guy who works for the company is not a 'sponsorship' please don't go around talking about being sponsored if that is what your deal is. that is just getting flow. all these kids think they are sponsored and it makes them and the company look bad. getting flow is a good thing and that is probably what you will start with before you actually get to know the team manager and you sign a contract and become part of the team. then you have made it.

i hope this clears up some of these sponsorship questions, although i have a feeling that anyone that makes a post in a forum on the internet of how to get sponsored doesn't have too good of a chance because you would already know how the ski industry works if you were at the level of riding necessary to get hooked up by a company.

^^they probabl yhave less money then you.

But pretty much what andy said, your gunna want to make a solid video, that shows your skill and make sure you put everything in it, lik eif you can spin both ways, put those like right by each other so it is uber obvious. And yeah put in a "resume" if thats what you would like to call it, comp results, what you can do for them, and your best photos, like if you get really good ones, because those are definitely something they can use in the market if your photogenic. Listen to andy He is good he knows these things.
