What do you think, should they be allowed or not? Will it be frowned upon if someone sponsored wins?

i can see that the comp was probably intended for unsponsored kids (hence the first prize being sponsorship)

some of the prizes they're giving away, like coaching at coc, are pretty fucking serious so they have to allow at least some level of sponsorship

yeah i guess if you are sponsored with hook-ups and material its fine, but if you already have contracts or long-term deals and are getting budgets with a company it kinda kills the soul and goal of the competition.

its not like they can just say no to you if your sponsered. But i think it should be for non sponsered kids. Especially just by looking at the prizes

 
idk i also think the comp was intended for people who aren't known to become known and sponsered, it would be wierd if someone won who is already sponsered

it wouldnt matter if a sponsered kid won cause the kid in second would get the sponser ships if you cant beat the sponsered people you dont belong in the comps you would be gettin passes too not every pro gets to go to these comps and get to pass into the semis and shit and if you cant beat them in young guns why do you deserve the passes

whatever, if your not sponsored enough for the comp to be silly then do it, I honestly don't care if i'm competing against some kid who gets free skis and googles or whatever, if someone complains cuase they think its unfair then they know there not gonna do well anyways, i'm not sure id sign the contracts if i won and I don't ride for anyone it just a good contest with good exposure and whatnot so come one come all!!!! its gonna be a blast!

 
well im sponsored, butevery contest i went to alst season, i had to qualify for, and at the us open, that is not an easy thing to do and i lucked out, but at WSi, i dint have so much luck and fell in all my qualifying runs, and i didnt make it

i see this competiton mroe for exposure then anything

But if you know ( or strongly think) your gonna win then seems to me its not a comp for you. like us open and wsi u had a good chance then this is gonna be an other rcr comp or something. but i dont know who would go so who knows.

i think it says somewhere that as long as your not getting paid, your welcome to compete. so that should clear things up.

I really think if they have a sponsorship they shouldn't be able to enter because they already have somewhat of a foot in the door while others that have nothing for sponsorships really need something to build off of that haven't been lucky enough to be exposed to such great oppourtunities.

gahh this is stupid...if your not getting a contract with money then you can compete...simple as that...why should some kid who gets some free goggles be excluded? anyone can benefit from the exposure, comp entries etc. and for those who arent sponsored...why would you want to explude kids with low level hook ups? after all if you win you will be at the masters..us open...wsi etc...if your bummed about competing with flow kids you might want to evaluate how you would feel at those comps...considering that is what your competing for

umm..the point of the comp is not just to get sponsors...first of all the contracts you would get would be sick..second of all its all about the exposure in the first place...anddddd if you dont understand or appreciate the importance of being pre qualed at all the major events then dont bother posting^

No worries, if you are ment to win you will. Its a jam. There are wayy better people out there that arnt sponserd who can beat "sponserd" kids. Being sponserd doesnt really mean they will win.

 
oops.. my bad i thouhg it was just the main event not the 5. but sponsered people shouldnt be excluded. Cuz like he said getting a free pair of gogles doesnt mean your the best. Just means you sent in a resumer.

everybody can particiapte.....anyway there is kid in north america who are not yet sponsered and they kick ass of a lot person sponsered so even the person not sponsered while have her ass kick so everyone can participate except the real pro........tj tanner dumont rainville etc guys like ian cosco CAN certainly participate because a job to COC and qualift in all events is really sick

 
ALSO, i'm pretty sure its under 18 and I mean there are some pros under 18 but not that many and being pro means you are fuckin amazing and get paid to ski and shit so they obviously will not be in the comp. All of us, whether sponsored or not, are most definitely not pros so it shoudln't be very hard deciding all the shit. word

you think nothing will work.... its so kids that do not have so much exposure as they deserve can be noticed... even if you have good sponsors it still doesnt mean that your exposed

coaching at coc, and getting to ride at the masters is HUGE. Look at the level 1 superunknown winners, people know who they are now. Winning a big comp like this could and will jumpstart a possible ski career.

And even is guys like cosco are sponsered, he isn;t getting paid to ski, and it's not like he is hooked up the wahzoo. Im sure he would love to get more free crap like the rest of us, and if he doesn;t want it, sell it on here at cheap ass prices, so you make some cash, and hook someone up.

Unless your a recognizable big name pro, i say go fucking kill it. There is plenty of young hot shots that are going to give you a run for your money no doubt.

im hopeing no sponsors what so ever, that would be sick. and it would give you a true unknown rider winning it. you just have to specify what not sponsored it. i consider free stuff sponsored. but i dont think a discount is, pro form if you work for a shop for example. thats not sponsorship

yeah dude i totally agree. you dont want some skiing powerhouse like bryan gallant and his sick sportlegs sponsorship to dominate the comp.

heheh. funny people. guys dont get angry... i agree that even fully sponsored people should go in this comp. doesnt mean they're the best. no no no. a lot of sponsored people are sponsored coz they know the right people and have the right attitude. there are dickheads that are incredible skiers. this certainly looks like it'll be an intense contest. i guarentee some complete unknown kids will pop up as well as many sponsored kids.

 
^ that is rediculous. If you cant beat a sponserd kid you sure as hell shouldnt be pre-qualified, and sure as hell shouldnt be in the Orage masters. The shit just doesnt ass up. Being sponserd doesnt mean shit, kids are sponserd just because where the live, not cuz they are incrediable. If your not getting paid then they should be able to do it. If your not getting paid then you arnt at the next level, or they are getting fucked by there "sponsers" and this will help them blow up and maybe get paid.
