Sponsor Fetishism?

What is up with the fetish skiers have for obtaining a sponsor?

We have been currently testing the waters with a new clothing company this month and we have received,

Sales: 0

Sponsorship requests: 14

This seems a little whack.... What do you all think?

Maybe I should stick to letting people throw rocks at me for a dollar.
 
Sponsorships are overrated 9/10 times. Unless you have a decent hookup with a big company, you really aren't receiving much. IMO kids want to be "sponsored" as a claim, rather than actually support and represent whatever brand they're on.
 
Whats with everyone trying to profit off skiing by making new outerwear startups? Seems like every second instagram is promoting a new "core" brand. Anyway you dont need to advertise by complaining about sponsor kids, just tell us to buy your stuff, we'll do it.

Also yours is okay though because that stunt suit is sickk.

straight forward and I like it.

To be honest, My excuse to being one of those "new startup blah brands" is that I wanted a Shirt Press for my own use, but now am looking for ways to pay it off. haha
 
Most starter companies just do custom ink, stunt chicken puts in hard work and dedication with the real deal.

oh and sponsorship to some local kids throwing bangers would most likely help you. If you can find a homie who is coming up in the ski community you should toss them gear. As they get noticed you get noticed.

Which makes sense.

But 90% of (14) people send me an email saying "I am looking for a sponsor an can rep your stuff" with nothing else. I have no idea who they even are. We have taken yet another step backwards from the good ol' days of Sponsor Me videos haha
 
WHy do people want a sponsorship?

People dont only want a sponsorship for the merchandise but also for the bragging rights. Now im not sposored but i think it wold be the coolest to say "im good enough that a company give me free shit to ski" or to say "Im so good that a company wants me to rep their brand". So yeah, the merchandise is a big deal to cause suddenly skiing doesnt cost as much. Anyways, this is personally why i would want to be sponsored and why i think skiers make such a big deal about getting sponsored

to be totally honest, when I asked 4 u 2 sponzer me on the other thread, i hadn't even looked at the product i just fell in love with the name

what is annoying is the ridiculous amounts of product placement in skiing sometimes, but I get it. you gotta promote those brands that are paying the bills, but it is kinda funny seeing red bull athletes in their redbull helmets taking a sip from a can of redbull as if we don't have a clue already.
 
Make a shirt with Donald Trump on it that says "Make Skiing Great Again." I'd buy it.

Well your shit is sick I kinda need to grab a hoodie and stunt suit. But I feel you like kids around school would brag about being sponsered by proteus and Im like congrates you get 10% off 10 dollar shirts with ugly ass triangles sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. No. Im sponsed by Rossignol for a pair of skis and bindings a year (slats got here today stoked) But i don't fucking brag about it like some kids they arnt even in my bio. I didnt even request it. I know the rep and he offered me one so i was like yeah. BUt kids give me shit because anyone can get sponsored by them I guess even though none of them are. I said fuck you if I dont care I get free sick skis, when they dont belive me I say fuck you I dint care about your opinion I know im sponsed and get shot thats what matters. These kids fucking jiz and would murder their families for like 5% off a shit company they havent even heard of it bugs me so much.
