Spk vs ft

So I went out to buy a new set of boots, and was looking at the spk kreations and the ft hot doggers, unfortunately they only had my size (26) in the ft's.has anyone tried on both or owned both? was curious as to if they fit similar in sizing.

have you seen the color scheme on those bad boys? baller as fuck.

plus with that quality cable cover and sock-style liner...doesn't get any better than that.

full tilts and spks don't fit anything like each other. If you want boots that fit well, go to a boot fitter.

There actually quite different. The SPK in your size has a 102mm last and the Hot dogger is 98mm. So thats 4mm differnt, may not sound alot but thats the difference between a race boot by salomon and the SPK so there fairly different in width. Obvioulsy the way they flex is completly differnt too. You may find pressure on your instep in the FT depending how high your arch is. Putting a custom insole (very much recomended) in a FT will completly change it too. When I was testing the first bumble bees there was such an increase in comfort and performance when I got my footbeds in them. So really it comes down to what fits you but you need to try them both. On another point though you do get alot more from the SPK, you get a proper hell cushion not just a rubber footboard like the FT and you also get a soft spoiler and rubber toe box in the SPK which FT do not do. So really if you are looking for a really good freestyle boot and you havnt got a really norrow low volume foot the SPK is proberly a better more comfortable option.

But all of this is just speculation without seeing your feet. Go to the best shops you can find and see what they say, just dont be put off if they recomend a differnt boot. Unfortunatly unless you want to pay for foam injection liners you cant really pick your boot, the boot picks you.

Get the boot that fits you the best. A good fitting boot is the most important part of your set-up. Go to a reputable shop that will get you fitted properly with the boot that fits you best, even if it isn't a park boot. Try to see past all the hype around certain boots, all that extra stuff is just icing on the cake, the boot has got to fit you most importantly.

Well theres only 1 local shop that sells park skis/boots etc.and in my size they only had the FT's. even though I had originally gone there to get the spk's.so I couldnt try on a pair that fit me.
and I know there not the only boot, go back to amall plastic bag.

Fine don't ask for help then. SPK's and FT are totally different boots, if one fits you the other will be straight up miserable to ski in.

You dont need a park shop. Chances are the best boot fitters dont work in a park shop. Go to a good bootfitter explain what you ski and ask there advice. If they know what there doing they will know how the SPK and FT fit even if they dont sell them. They can therefore give you honest advice as they wont be trying to sell you a boot if they dont actually sell them. I spend half my time sending people to differnt shops to get the boot thats right for them even if it means I lose a sale.

I didn't mean "park shop" in specific.we only have 1 actual good shop that sells skis, everything else is like sportcheck and stuff.
I may just order the spks and if they dont fit, I can always return them.

well when you get them do a few cheaks. Take the liner out and put your foot in. Move your foot so your toes just touch the front of the shell. Then reach down behind your heel, there should be about 2cm of space or two fingers(generally). Next cheak that there is around 5mm of space either side of your forfoot, and around 10mm of space either side of your ankle bones. You also want to cheak there is around 10mm of space abouve your navicular bone(instep). If all looks good take them to a ski shop to get your footbeds made and get the liners moulded.

Hopefully all should be good then but make sure you find a shop who will give you a fit garentee with your footbeds so if you need work doing it wont cost you anything.

Good luck with it and let me know if you have any problems

welcome to NS my friend. there is this little thing in the top right hand corner of the page called the searchbar... I suggest you use it in the future so you don't get shat upon by all the duchebag members who like to be e-hardasses.

I was pretty sure that hot doggers were a 99mm last, but I could be wrong. I was wrong once. I tried on my old boots and the tongue feels so uncomfortable now that I'm using intuitions.

hey... are you the same name on amall? shouldn't be hate between skaters. I'm just sayin, I tried on full tilts and thought they were great. I then tried on dalbellos and they felt better. Probably cause I tried on the booters, but the dalbellos I tried n felt really good. Also look at the ace of spades or the dead money. I was on NS before I was on amall anyway.

The ace of spades are pretty sick. I tried them on last weekend. The "progressive flex" index thing is a fancy word for what a lot of other boots do though. The pant cuff clip thing is cool too. It might be worth looking at if you can afford them.

there's no absolute way to measure a last (shells are not straight, they are curved and contoured), it's unfortunately confusing and complicated to measure- it's a lot like boot flex indices. When the SPK first came out, it had a claimed 105mm forefoot width. Salomon later stopped naming it as such because it scared a lot of people away from it. FT/Raichle was originally 98mm, but changed it to a 99mm. They didn't make it wider just probably changed how they measured the last. The point is, it's never absolute plus each 98mm boot has different shapes and contours which make them fit differently. Use it as a guideline and go from there.

yeah same name on amall.and the "serial" thing is a bad habit thanks to the amall forum haha
I just ordered the spks the other day, I'm not to worried, I'm sure they'll be fine.

I have been riding the spks all season and i havnt gotten shin bang or toe jam yet so, they are pretty sweet, i defiantly think the spks cause the hot doggers are like way more expensive, from their reviews they dont sound worth the extra green backs.

sadly no.i've never gotten a single product warrantied actually.

unless you count an Xbox 360. and i had to pay $80 to get that fixed, so it wasn't much of a warranty at all.

Why didn't you just try on the Hot Doggers? Chances are, if they even fit decently, they'd be a way better boot for you than the SPK considering they have Intuition liners...

goddamnt i hate this threads so much, i got full tilts once cause i thought they were the "cool thing" you know what most of it fit pretty well but around the ankle i had a sharp pain all the time, get a goddamn boot that fits you, thats what i did
