SPK Rivets Removal

Cheers from Russia here!!

The thing is.. I guess loads of ppl know there are some rivets in the SPK Kaos boots, two of them are fixing the cuff on the back, and one is on the top of the tongue. So, if i want the boots to be softer (the unmovable cuff pisses me off really) can i just remove all those 3 rivets? will that work? Or this will do some bad things and will nuke the hell out of my boots? Soo, any comments?

I guess this can actually be a dumb question...

Thanks for any help guys!

Hey, i got the spk kaos too.

i'm not sure what you mean about the rivets. But I assume that they are not meant to be taken off. Why do you want to remove them anyway, i like them the way they are. I'm not trying to be rude, just wondering.

Hey dude whats up

So to anwser your question yes you can remove the 2 middle rivets but this will make the boot become hella soft after and will pack out much more than before as your ankle will not have the designed suport it origianlly had.

How heavy are you?

if you remove both rivets from the back of the cuff imo it will lose all rebound and energy. Have you tried running the power strap underneath the cuff next to the liner to get a tighter fit and more flex.

Potentially you could perhaps remove the medial (inside) rivet, to give more flex, but I think removing both would be too soft.

Yes your right the boot would loose rebound but woudl be softer which was what you were asking your original question.

i dont think you really want to.
spks are already glorified shoes, you dont want to get into a glorified flip flop of a ski boot

Its totally up to this guy in Russia. If they are new boots I would wear them in your house first and the flex might feel better when you hit the slopes. Its just an idea though.

I went and took the back two rivets out of my Falcon CS Pros to see how different the flex is and it's only barely noticable. Is this what the guy was asking? Even though I am under 160lbs I still like having stiff boots which is why I bought these, but it could be fun to mess around with the flex a bit.

Hmm, thanks for all the info coming, really great

The thing is.. isnt it just a lil' dumb that cuff is just 'deformating' the whole boot when you flexing it, while the cuff itself isnt actually moving? it just doesnt feel right. The boot itself fits perfectly, no problems at all, and is actually the first boot that is not destroying my foot while im just standing still. Its just the 'unmovable cuff feel' that is actually 'not right'. For example i like the flex of Il Moro's, it feels alot more 'connected'... Too bad my foot doesnt like them and im in pain 15 mins later ;) Even the flex of Lange Freestyle is more smooth. Thats while my SPKs feel like one-piece-boot, honestly.

Yeah the boots are new indeed (just 2 weeks of skiing), so i'll wait a bit before actually doing smth with the boot for sure.

I guess now its a little more clear... if it really will be better later - then its not a problem, but so far it is actually a problem.
