I searched and nothing came up.

So i bought a pair of Spk kaos from REI the other day ($230) and they came today. I tried these on before the season and really liked the fit, but couldnt buy em until now. They fit below my ankle very well, but above my ankle has quite a bit of muscle now, more than when i had tried them on before the season. now the only issue i have is that the tongue is too narrow, as in the arc is too small for my wider arced leg.

with the full circle being my leg and the half circle being the boot tongue. i can actually fit my finger between the tongue and my shin. is there any way to widen the tongue so it fits my leg better? cause otherwise, the fit is perfect.

Shit, I have been fitting ski boots for a while and rarely ever see that happen in the SPK's. One of the best things about that boot is the tounge, I have been skiing the SPK pros and the tougne helps cut back on shin bang a lot. I would probably ski it and see if it molds and fits better after its been more heavily flexed. Are you sure you have it buckled properly??

im too far away, and yes i have them buckled correctly. i think that they will mold to my shin. keep in mind that that graphic is just for show. its not nearly that bad.

thats really weird i have some spks and their great all around. Maybe you should just strecth it out? Mine were kinda tight when i first skied them then they just softend up. I think thats your problem.

Heat molding them will help open the boot up and then compress it to your leg, but as your a too far from a boot fitter i would suggest spreading the tongue the best you can and heating with a hair dryer on hot from like 15cms away for a few minutes (until warm through) and then wearing them for 5-10minutes and repeat again if necessary. It isn't ideal but it may help them adjust to your leg.

you can grind some of the plastic reinforcement off the tongue to make it lose some of its strength (or memory i guess)..last time i did that i used one of those electric sanding-type belts which are used to grind footbeds into shape (can't think of the name right now)..

I would have thought that over time it would soften up, i think the main thing is to ensure when you do the boot up that the tongue is in a comfortable position and it won't move
