i was at the shop today and the guy told me that booster straps are not good with spk kaos boots. he said i should definetely keep the strap thats already on them, on there.

does anyone use booster straps with their spks? is it good? should i do it?

also are the liners of spk kaos boots heat moldable?

thanks.

I was at a shop a few weeks ago and tried on the Kaos and they felt good, and I was going to try on the pros as well but they shop guy said they were the same boot except for looks and that the pro had a heat moldable liner, wheras the Kaos did not have a heat moldable liner at all. So if I bought the Kaos I'd just have to wait for them to pack out. so I'm under the impression that the Kaos liner cannot be heated at all and the pro can.

Pretty sure the Sport liner onyl has heat moldable material on the tongue. Pro is tongue, ankle/heel and midfoot. There's one in between those (Performance?) that's tongue and ankle/heel only.

Unless I'm getting mixed up. I forget the naming of them all but there's 3 levels for most ranges.

I don't think it was their actual boot fitter, it was just some dude in the shop, I was just chillin in a shop and wanted to try them on so he just gave me a boot to see how it felt.

the salomon rep was at our shop today, and he said the only difference between the kaos and the pros was the leather covering, so i looked in the little tiny booklet he gave us with all of the specs, and i said "But in the booklet it says the liners are both different." he said "There are alot of typos in the booklet, and the only difference is the leather covering, and ur paying an extra 100$ for leather" I dont think either of the spk boots are heat modable.

i would check myself, but we only carry the kaos at the shop, im not sure of his name, he only stopped in really qucik to drop off some booklets, and since we weren't busy, he ran through some boot stuff with us. ill try to find out his name anthoer day, and ill PM u if u want.

i thought so too, until the rep said that, but it even says in the booklet that they r differnt. either the rep was a bullshitter, or the book is wrong. I think the rep was just bullshitting

all three have different liners. i'm not sure of the specifics on the salomon liners this year, since my shop STILL hasnt gotten them in yet, but the kreation is their low end cushy bucket liner. the kaos, which is the same as last years spk, more than likely has a heat moldable ankle pocket, and maybe forefoot, but thats it. the pro would be a fully heat moldable liner with heat moldable tongue. but in the end, they all fit like buckets on your foot anyway.

sounds like that rep is not specialised in boots at all. anyway that heat formable thing isnt worth much anyway. it's more like packing out your liner sooner so you have less friction points.

the only real tehrmoformable liner i know of are the id thinger.

true, but I find that the big strap on my spks is wayyy better than what I had on my 1080 boots so I dont need a booster strap.

and as for the original question....I think you should keep the original straps. The SPK already has a lot of technology that goes into preventing shinbang + the stock strap is so huge and dope looking...haha

The salomon spk kreation has an autofit liner which isnt heat mouldable, same liner as a salomon rush6, xwave6.

The spk kaos has the customfit sport which is the same liner as the rush8/xwave8. it is heat mouldable.

the spk pro uses the customfit pro which is the same liner as the salomon xwave10. more mouldable.

the salomon foil uses a customfit comfort which is similar to the sport liner but just as the name suggests a little more cushy.
