Spirit Mountain 14/15

Spirit really should paint a line across the knuckles of at least the big jumps like once or twice a week. Duluth is plagued by flatlight more often than not so its impossible to do anything really interesting and also spot your landing when everything is white.

And by once or twice a week I think you mean every morning... Nothing scarier than not knowing where the landing is

Super stoked to post this new video featuring Spirit Mountain's main park! ENJOY!

Loved the Videography, that's what you get from $40,000 cameras though haha. Music choice was not on point however, I thought skiing was past the played out dubstep phase

Ughh, for me the music choice is 65% of what makes the video apealing, it sets the mood and when a video is edited directly fit to the song it makes for an incredible production. I understand it's for copyright infringements and spirit putting out third party content but damn that really sucks...

You still can make it interesting. Obviously if you throw down it will be interesting regardless but you just have to be more creative.

for sure, but it takes away a huge part of video production. they should call it a filming contest, creative shots and creative tricks can over-power music choice but it still isn't the same.

while we're on the topic of creative/massive tricks, now would be a prime time for someone to try and gap the 100 footer, someone has to unleash their inner candide, nuke from the top of the hill and it might be possible. I honestly can't tell if I'm being serious about recommending this or not, but I've seen more stupid things attempted on skis.

The lack of music is certainly unfortunate. However, it's not an edit contest, to say that is misleading. The judging is partially on filming (Gopro, cellphone, drone.. all works!), but mostly on skiing and the tricks being done; not at all on editing. It was originally going to be a one clip big air, then a two trick big air, then a slopestyle run, and it all just got too complicated. We settled on a 1:30 time-cap raw footage edit showcasing the best tricks you got. Just a fun end of season contest. Get out and shred the slush, bring a camera, throw down and have a good time!

Going to UMD next year and plan to get pass to Spirit. However due to the extra expense I don't plan on bringing my car. I'm sure I'll meet someone eventually that I can hook up with to get a ride, but in those times where no ones available has anyone have any experience getting from the north end of town to spirit by way of public transportation? Is it a hassle?

Haven't taken taken the buses personally but I know that there is a stop at the Grand Avenue Chalet. And it seems to be a pretty popular way to get there.

It takes fucking forever. 1 hour bus ride for a 20 minute drive.

Thanks to both of you. I'll just have to see how the first semester goes and if I don't like it I will just have to buck up and pay for parking.

It's only $200 a year if you live on campus. Compared to everything else you're paying for it's not a huge cost. I personally never bought a pass when I lived off campus because they oversell the commuter lots so bad it's easier to just park a few blocks away and walk and pay at the pay lot when you're running late, but I think you're guaranteed a spot in your lot for resident lots.
