Spire and flag hoisted to the top of new WTC

They should have went with Libeskind's original design.

The current freedom tower definitely isn't bad, but it's so bland.

The original Libeskind design was striking, daring and works far better as a symbol.

For sure man. I watched 9/11 happen right from my classroom windows. A crazy fucked up day that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Awesome to see us bounce back, put up another building, and give a big fuck you to the scumbags of the world.

You know what this is? A giant steel middle finger to the people of the world who wish to tear us down.

you really are stupid.

not only is there a monument, but there's a building thats a little over 100 floors tall there.

beautiful building too. I think it exemplifies the simple grace of the old ones. Because the old ones were by no means magnificent buildings, and yet they still had a certain beauty to them.

Honestly, architecturally I though the old ones were pretty ugly. I had no idea how close this new one was to being complete.

they definitely were ugly. Utilitarian buildings of the highest order. But I think after awhile they somewhat bypassed that status. Like one of those ugly at first, but beloved and wouldn't change a thing after awhile types.

it seems like that's the case with every major structure. They put it up and everyone hates it. Then they say they're changing it or taking it down, and everyone gets mad.
