Alright so i went to a water ski jump place yesterday to work on my tricks.

I can do rodeo 5s no problem but i have trouble just doing plainn spins. i can do a 360 if i try pretty hard but cant go beyond that. if i try to set the spin harder i just start slipping at the lip.

greatly appreciated if anyone has advice

um i would just settle for rodeo 5s. maybe try corking the spins out so you can set some of the rotation in a flip rather than solely on horizontal motion. you can learn regular spins on snow dude i wouldnt waste your po0l time. learn flipsnshit

have you ever tried spinning on snow IMO its much easier than water ramps? But for ramps what i do is start to set your spin before you jump (pre wind) but just slightly so that you are in an aggressive ready to spin stance. Then as soon as you get off the ramp/ jump release and since your landing in water spin as hard as you can by looking over your left shoulder if you spin left and your right if you spin right. Continue looking over your shoulder to keep your body moving don't just stop once you have done a 3.

thanks guys

actually im not wasting my pool time cuz its only an hour away

well i guess im just gonna keep practicin

idk about water ramps, but i remember when i was first learning 3s my biggest problem was slipping at the lip as well... the piece of advice that helped me was focus on your pop and spin as 2 different things, pop, then spin.

I had similar thoughts at hood a few weeks ago...

So Cody Townsend who had seen my backseat 3s just simply said pop, right at the lip and left it at that when I asked. just think about that, it helps. Apparently with my 181 Armadas(which although great take some getting used to, they measure tip to tip on them just like K2) I was spinning too early and w/o much pop.

and do that at the very end of the lip. technique is so annoying..lucky for you you have water ramps though.

yea make sure you pop off the lip of the jump and you are in the air before you start spinning.... thats good all around spin techniqu in general anyway

yupp! its important to pop equally off both feet, most spins you can watch have the same take off. start your spin after you pop. Also trampolines will make you feel comfortable with spins

Lake placid water ramps & tramps

Look over the shoulder! if you want to spin you have to look over your shoulder to keep spinning. Practice spinning on a tramp

i dont really get how this works.

wouldnt spinning after you pop just make ur skis go the other way of ur upper body to neutralize the spin(wow i sounded hella smart)

So is this how you keep your momentum? I found that ithat is true, but I can never figure out why.

and one post up, thinking about it too much makes it harder. I know it seems like it makes no sense, but you just have to try it a few times to get the feel.

wind up before the lip abit with your arms, set them in the opposite direction to your spin, then as soon as you reach the lip, POP and throw your arms the way you want to spin, turn your head, grab a ski or two, spot your landing, stomp it and ride away like a G
