Spinning off of rails

ok so every time i attempt a 270 out the tails of my skis hit the rail and my rotation stops dead, my friend says its cuz my skis are to big for me but im pretty sure thats not it any tips to remember oh and the only time my tails didnt hit the rail i had it

you are probably just trying to spin with out popping off the rail, so like everyone else said, pop and set your rotation.

you can either go faster on a bigger rail so that you are past the rail when your tips swing around it or you just have to pop. Bend your knees on the rail and pop with your legs at the end.

i have a question...and please dont hate im new to skiing...

what is "steeze" everyone on this site talks about it, so what is it exactly??

style and thats about 50% of what matters in skiing cuz if u pull a penzilled out 7 its ok but a steezy 3 is ballin

They're all lying. which way do you spin? If you get on left foot forward, and spin to the left lock on to the right side of the rail. That way your tips are more down and your tails won't get caught, and it's easier to spin off. It's pretty much proven that it's easier to spin off when you're bases aren't flat on something. Like spinning off a wide box without locking onto one of the rails is hard.

your body is at an angle when you pop off...your angle needs to be more aggressive. as in more foward..if your skis are hitting the rail that means your feet are pointed to upward , meaning your tails are down. pop foward

spin a little but not as much as you are doing now, spin abbout 45 degrees on the rail and pop and spin the rest

I used to get the same issue when I was starting to learn 270 offs.

3 main things you gotta remember, if you can't think of it all at once, do the rail and 270off doing 1, then 2, then get all 3 together and your set.

1) pop off. practice just popping and land toward whichever way you wanna learn to 270 off, i started popping to landing switch since i was trying to get blindside.

2) wait till the very end of the rail, everytime i hit the rail it was cause i popped way too soon

3) start your rotation a bit on the rail, essentially the second you actually get off the rail your tips should be 180* away from your 270, unless your doing a pretty high rail

if you're spinning down hill as in spinning right side off if you slide left foot forward try leaning to the left side of the rail right before you pop off because then u can get a good push off the rail and spin much better

i dont think this has been said, you have to pop off the box.

but also, learn them off of an up box. its real easy to do em off those

all these guys are idiots what you have to do is jump off of the rail instead of just sliding off. When you get to the end of the rail extend your legs so that you pop into the air

well obviously focus on popping, though sometimes you hit the rail, it's inevitable, but the thing is you can still finish off 270s if you hit the rail, just make sure you're spinning with your hips and shoulders and then you won't be stopper by bonking the rail, just slowed a little, this will also help you when you start spinning out the other way. one way to make yourself do this is bring the leading hand around, just make sure you keep the hand low or you'll be thrown backseat.

i wouldnt do that.... if you start thinking about spinning before the end of the rail things could end up really bad for future generations, it looks shitty too

i had the same problem, just gotta focus on popping a lil bit higher so ur skis clear, and sometimes i would start to spin off to early, and i would hit the rail
