Spine protector?

just wondering what brands/models anyone would recommend. i know it sounds weak but after having a friend paralyzing himself (neck down) last year i think a little more protection couldn't hurt.

 
I have a 661 assualt suite without the plastic shoulder guards( cut them off) for days out of the park.
 
Haha... 661... they make those here in Valencia... 661 is our area code... what a stupid and unoriginal name.
 
lol get a rockgrden flackjacket, but mang ummm compession is your enemy not direct spinal impacts i guess i'm saying its not a support just a pad so whats its going to do when you air to flat? pad going to keep that spin straight?
 
i used to ski in france and the most wellkown protection compay is dainese i duno how well known it is here tho
