I was just wondering. wat makes one skier faster then the other. if they are like the same size, same skis, same skiing experience, why would one be faster??

if youre slower than someone, draft right behind them, it will slingshot you ahead of them really easily.

Actually the slingshot thing really works and yeah i already said it but aerodynamic positioning and also being able to milk the turns... when your drafting be careful to not run into the person ahead, cuz then it will make you slower.

i think the heavier you are the faster you go, and the longer skis you have the faster you go

^^^ just about to say that.....that shit hurt....also the length of the ski matters....someone on 181cm can obviously go ten times faster on someone on snowlerblades

man i hate that, my friend has the 1260's and if you are ever behind him frigin ice will cut up your face. its such a pain in the ass, i dont like the way line put up their tips that much

Haha, I have 1260s too and people complain about me, it's awesome though I was doing wide turns going super fast fakie down the end of the park (nothing left), and I was watching my huge rooster tails flying out the back, it was sooo sweet.

what if one had an engine twice as fast as another engine. and one ski had a regular engine and one ski had a double fast engine. what if the double fast engined ski drags a parachute. then what ski is faster?

yea, the only problem with draft + slingshot is that you get poked in the eye with a pole if you screw it up......

either that, or you get an ass full of face... shit face full of ass too..... not too good going fast.........

the biggest trick to going fast (besides longer skis and a good wax) is staying on your egdes without scrubbing off the speed. if you can stay on your edges will gently turning, it works great. also knowing where the fall lines are...

huckster, it all depends on the size of the parachute, if you had a parachute for a little army guy it wouldent, but if you did the math with drag and stuff it would eventually work out, unless there is a breeze, *woah* ive never ben this smart before

DrPepper is right... thats another important thing... besides the Vrroom Vrroom noises that is... flat basing it is slower than staying on an edge and gently weaving from side to side.

Whistlermann, you're wrong, bases are faster than edges, but only when going straight. if you aren't riding a flat ski you'll be slow. BUT when you are turning thats when you use your edges to make clean arcs, and would be faster than skiding on your base. I do believe that making the varoom noise helps too.
