Speed Wobble

Hey all you longboarders out there, I've got independent 215 trucks on a 40 inch board and just crushed myself yesterday straightlining a hill. The whole board fish tailed and i cartweeled at least three times. Anyone got any tips to prevent this, I've heard Randall trucks are better. Any help would be great, thanks.

randall trucks are good, i have them on my 52' tahoe...

tighten the trucks, that will stop the wobbles

speed wobble sucks

i dont long board but on a regular board the tighter the trucks the less wobble. i dont see why it should be any different

With every deck you ride, you need to know the point of 'no chance of ever speed wobbling'.... for all you longboarders you know what i mean... its when your carving down a hill and your going so fast, but when you lean into a carve, your leaning into it so hard that your perfectly steady and you cant get speed wobble... it sounds like you didnt know your deck very well and just straightlined... that shit is stupid dude and your asking to get hurt.... if you just straightline stuff your gonna get hurt, make sure you have an escape route (carving really hard) and dont just try and ride out of a speed wobble, because that never works.... you need to know your deck, and carve down some small hills, then work on carving down big hills, and get extremely comfortable doing it... then once you get comfortable carving the big hills, say to yourself, 'ok i'll carve 2/3rds of the way down, the straightline for awhile, and if i get the wobble i'll just carve out of it'

its all about working your way up

I went longboarding the other day for the first time and I did it at U o U campus its perfect for it really but anyway id much rather have something with breaks on it cuz whenever i started going fast i would try to slow down in the grass or just jump off run 30 mph for about ten feet and just start rolling my friend hit a cherry lexus it was so damn funny he hit it fast crushed the back of it and flew over it

God is an American.

Yeah, the reason I lined it was cause I had to beat a car through an intersection, and just didn't have a way out like you said. And I had my trucks pretty tight too. But I think i'm gonna take it easy for the next few weeks before getting back to big hills again.

And the board was one of the first ones I made. It carves pretty well, but it's kinda iffy on the feel because i haven't ridden it that much.

If you're making your own decks and you plan on going fast, you must make sure the mounting holes in your deck are drilled totally straight ,square, and with the front perfectly lined up with the back......yes, this sounds obvious but if your stuff isn't totally straight and lined up it gets magnified the faster you go. So when you drill your holes ,use a straight edge& a square, to make sure the front and back are lined up and square.

For actual riding, keep your legs bent and ankles loose. The mistake people make when they get going real fast and start to wobble a bit is they get tense, stiffen up ,and go straight ......legs bent ,ankles loose........
