Speed up FireFox

Yo,

I read this on the internet today.. It DEFINENTLY works. Give it a shot.

If you have Firefox, do this:

1.Type 'about:config' into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set 'network.http.pipelining' to 'true'

Set 'network.http.proxy.pipelining' to 'true'

Set 'network.http.pipelining.maxrequests' to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it 'nglayout.initialpaint.delay' and set its value to '0'. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

yeah, thanks for that helpfull comment tosh, i love those things, i wish ppl said that wheneva sum1 else said sumthing that help ppl who may not no as much about computers as u or just started using firefox, and also, coz that comment basicly directed at me and other people who didnt no that, well, i gota say, i neva had reason to find that out coz i have broadband and my speeds are fine, so please, keep those comments for the real dumbshits

Well, The place where i found this made an interesting comment about the number you should use.

Basically, the number you use corresponds to the number of connections you make to a website. Now, for bigger websites that get a lot of traffic, 30 would be fine. But, for some smaller websites you might not be allowed to make all 30 connections at once. This cause your connection to timeout which can sometimes take 30 seconds.

Simply put, setting your number to 30 MAY cause some websites to actually load slower. For the most part, however, you should be okay for 85% of the websites you visit.

I have mine set at 25.

speed up? much love to firefox but don't you ppl know that the limitation for viwing pages is 99% SOLELY based upon the bandwidth of your connection and/or the bandwidth of the hosting sites?

firefox will come on strong then and a new broswer will take it's place. the *scape browser family is fully wrought by many incarnations...this is only one.

Yeah it is faster, but maybe it would help people with dialup more? Like it does make it faster but when I already have cable everything is pretty fast to begin with. but thanks though i like it

i just got firefox today. so much better than IE. i can tell a huge difference of speed just switching over and if this makes it even faster.... damn

It works pretty good! Overall the page loading is just more consistant. Not like lightning fast for me though.
