What if we had a ski version, have a skier cross course maybe with multiple rail options and jumps and what not?
you have your time at the end and judged tricks, you score is as a freestyle event would be out of 100 like you get a certain amount of points for your place and that adds to your trick score?
stupid idea or no?

A skier-X course with rails alone sounds brutal enough. But to time them... this would be carnage.

well there would be a bunch of different options at the first rail option, like almost like a holeshot, fastest rail line goes to the first person outta the gate.
like 4 riders, 4 rails so every gets a rail each at the start.

so, basically a contest that holds the middle between slopestyle, moguls, skier-x and freeride ?

And you have to keep the beach ball up for at LEAST three hits or you have to start the whole thing over again.

also your disqualified if you still have 4 limbs when you cross the finish line.

actually a solid idea tho, i would definitely enjoy watching this

wouldnt work, they would need to have sharp edges if they want to contend in a speed event but that would make hitting a rail near impossible.

I think it would be a cool idea to have a rail at the start of a skier cross, and a "money booter" at the end of a skier-x course. That being said, it would be super hard on skis as most Skier-x guys are on race skis with crazy sharp edges.
and, I did the Bonzai this year, it was one of the most fun events I've competed in. It was crazy. I ripped the heel piece completely out of my ski on the second day at Alpine Meadows on the second turn after the hole shot, and tomahawked down a super icy bowl towards trees at about 50 mph. I was next to Blake Nyman in the start, and we both ate shit tryin to get the hole shot. Stoked to see what WME put together on that.

I had the exact same idea yesterday, it would be so sick....but the whole rails + race edges thing doesn't really work so maybe just have them do tricks off the jumps? Hahah such a crazy idea.

well the way i see it is that everyone loves trains, and people like to race, throw the two together eqawesomeness, yes sliding rails with race skis would be hard, therefore dont use race skis think of it like a long ass slopestyle course but with 4+ people at one time, the key is that theplaces is important but the tricks are also like no matter what the tricks 1st pulls the score would end in the top 3 and the best tricks done no matter where you place would be good enough for top 3.

i dont think rails would be too much of a issue, but if your all wet blankets then fine, jumps only, but they wobe spines, hips, gaps, butter boxes, everything.

and yes, beach balls, turrets, telemark bindings, whatever.

my other idea would be downhill biatholon.

ski a down hill course, have targets to shot, miss and add 200m to your run.

that would be a one person event.

:)

Yay more comps/rules!!! Not.

plus ever herd of Hotdogs and Handrails? no one cares about how fast you can get down a slope course... no one even cares about slope courses...

sorry for ruining your day.i know how important your opinion is and how everyone else's opinion is not worth a cent.
but i humbly must disagree with your view that no one cares about slope courses, many people do, like i dunno espn and the x games, the dew tour, just to name two. now im not saying you are not as smart as these people in media who have studied what people want to see on tv as televised skiing, maybe you should write them a letter and tell them how silly they are being for allowing skiing to be a competition. and how dare they televise commercially viable skiing to the masses. making our sport more popular. or should we go the way that rollerblading went with the summer x?
anyway sorry to destroy this happy feel good thread about awesome ideas for new things,

how about a downhill relay, 4 men teams each has their own section of the course, they have to pass batons and everything.

Wat about incorporating the Bonzai Tour on the first 2 days, with a Slopestyle course the second day? Or have it like a Rail off the cornice, into the Bonzai, and 2 separate judged "money booters" at the bottom.. The whole point of the bonzai is to see who the craziest skier on the mountain is, so that might as well involve rails, and a big booter with a style score for both the rail and booter.... Granted, its gonna be an insanely fast, hard big mountain course, but there are plenty of guys who can do that and hit rails and jumps as well. We needa talk to Daron about that as I'm sure he'd be willing to atleast listen (unlike FIS) and who knows what the bonzai could become or progress to. Red Bull Line Catcher and ColdRush have pretty much set the bar about all around ski competitions. It would be cool to take it up one more level.
