yea dude, i think iggyskier has a pair. they seem like they would be the shit in pow. dont know if you could carve very well though......on the other hand, who buys spatulas for carving.

Congrats!!!! Spatulas are fucking DOPE!!

They are pretty sick in pow. They actually probably won't be my mine pow ski this year, though, since I have FFF. But....

these are the best soft snow/tree skis ever. They made crud really fun as well. In corn or anything soft you can do whatever you want with your ski. They do fine on hardpack once you get the hang of it.

People say on hardpack to either lean back and carve or put your weight forward and slide. It is much safer, IMO, to lean foward and slide. Having your weight back just lead to tearing your knees.

Overall, really fun skis to have. Worth the money for sure. Make sure you put some decent bindings on them. I only have s914 on them and notice that flex of the bindings a lot. Go for s916.

Project Volcon should be sick as hell if it happens. No metal and sidewall = sickness.

If it ends up not working out...the Capital G-Funkenstein are where it is at. I believe they are 162 in the waist. THose are sick.

you tear your knees in a backward twisting fall, which is why I said you should ski spats on hardpack while leaning foward, not leaning back and carving.. read what I said.

and suggesting a race stock binding doesn't mean using a super high din. I ski mine s914 at 11. I ski the same din on my s916. The point was that the race stocks transfer power much more efficiently to the ski, making the ski much more controlled. and with spats they ski much better when you have more control over what they are doing.

so dope, i'd have to agree with the forward and sliding, though the leaning back produces a managable carve. Have you guys noticed that on cat tracks you just get bumped?

I want to know, or maybe I don't because I love my spatulas and the thought of something better makes me insecure. Though I've been waiting for shane and K2 to make something awesome.
 
thats whats happening, shane is working with K2 to make "Project Volcan" a ski with reverse sidecut and negative camber, like the spatulas, only they will have different demensions
 
They won't have reverse sidecut. They'll have a tapered sidecut. If you even want to call that a "sidecut".
 
all speculation right now about the sidecut. no matter what, though, it is clear that he is working with K2 to develope a new ski under the name "Project Vulcan".
 
I'm trying to picture tapered, like biggest in the nose, pretty straight through the waist (holding its width), then pulling in on the tail?

I'll be honest i hope they flop in retail like the spats did so shane will be selling them out of his garage.
 
Hey Now, I just took my Spatulas out of the closet. I love 'em. Only takes a coupla' inches of fresh to make 'em work. Hardpack isn't that bad. Ice is SCARY! Salomon is now makin' a 130mm wide brake.
 
i want a pair, squaw were di you get them? im willing to pay 300 for a pair. they used to be on ebay for 299 , i just want them for the novelty and i will use them at alpine for the Gnar.
 
iggyskier is selling a pair with 914s for 400. I got mine new on ebay for 330 last year. Best ski purchase i've ever made.
 
As you probably know the spats are basically center mounted (I haven't measured but they're pretty close). So i think an even tip width would just float the tip some more. Switch would be tough, but as long as you can make a landing who cares if you can ski switch in pow.

you can find them new in shops for $225. At most you should be paying $350 for them. That would be the MAX.
 
You suck so much when it comes to using a forum. Don't post so much stupid, pointless shit. And i'm super curious how the spatulas are. i'm from indiana, so theres absolutely no reason for me to even give them a second glance, but the whole concept sounds sick. Project Vulcan must be incredible.
