Southern Hemisphere

K so hopefully the anwsers to this well help myself and anyone else wondering.

K so I want to keep skiing for our summer. So me and some buds decided we should hit up somewhere in the southern hemisphere. Our main goal is to get good at park (as much as I would love to ride chile or argentinas epic pow), so we decided on Snow Park NZ. The problem is, we want to stay on the mountain or atleast as close as possible (nothing is better then walking out your door and skiing to the lift). We emailed the resort, and basically all they have said is they have no long term facilities, but we can check out there "apartments" which are basically exspence hotels. So its looking like we're gonna have to stay in Wanka (if we go, its lookin way exspense right now) which brings up the main problem with gettin to the resort everyday. So now we're kinda looking at other places in Australia or new Zealand, but we don't know what other places have really nice parks, with comps, and fun events.

So that is our situation. Now if any of you guys or girls out there could help us with maybe finding a mountain with a really nice park (so it needs big jumps, not only rails), or giving us advice on how to ride snow park for their season, as in a good place to stay and a good way to get to the mountain every day, that would be siiick!

pretty much if you stay "at" snowpark you'll be bored as fuck.  wanaka is where everyone stays and it'll pretty much be all of your friends hanging with eachother with little to do if you stay at snowpark.  also hitchhiking is pretty big and people find rides that way...but I never hitchhiked all the way from town to snowpark so I don't know how garunteed it is you will find a ride.  good luck though if you make it down you're going to have a blast and make sure if you're ever in wanaka to stop by one of those shops on the main street that serves doner kabobs- those things are delicious (sorry I forgot the name of the place but it's super easy to find).  Also Lemon and Peora is an awesome soft drink only in New Zealand.

Im intersted in the same thing. I need to do my internship at a ski resort over the summer. Does anybody have any suggestions of where i could do it. Someplace that offers payed internships?

if you can't intern at snowpark try out cardrona...maybe you could intern as a physio guy which you can do at cardrona and in town at wanaka.

snowpark would be cool but im a ski resort major so i dont know if interning as a psysio guy would work.

if you want to work anywhere you should apply now to get the position you want, I work at Mt.Hutt just outside of Christchurch, don't think we do internship, not sure of many places that do, just apply for a job you might want to do. If you need to go back to school in september same places are ok with you leaving some aren't. I go for 3 months and make it back for class in september but my job is a bit different

yeah i think it is a little late for this summer and i will have to do it next summer. I cant just be a job though. It has to be an internship. I need it to graduate.

They have a park?, I've seen pics and it doesnt look like it. But I do like the massive amount of big mountain lines that are in bounds, but like I said Ill have to save that for another year, we want to get good at park.

yea its not that great a park they have one but not as good as some others

i go with sass camp and we build jumps and shits its just a good time

if i went for a great park i think id go to high north its so much easier to try stuff wen its warrmer out

Shitty, I know the feeling, I should be graduating this year tho. Which will be nice, I can have soo much fun with the 4000 dollars in tution plus 500 in books a year I normally have to save for.

you could stay in queenstown, there are several ski resorts around there. and for transportation and living buy a shitty van for like 300 bucks and live it. or if you have a place to stay vehicles are cheap and people are always trying to get rid of them since there are a lot of travellers going through NZ. i dont know if you guys want to go to south america for certain reasons, i have been there i know what it is like. its not all bad though by any means. also if you go to queenstown i could let you know where to find some cheap living. try monteiths beer.
