South Lake tahoe

Hey, Was wondering who skis in South Lake and which are the best resorts to go to in that area...

bought myself a heavenly season pass and gonna get the double whammy season pass for northstar and sierra, just so i can travel up to northstar every now and then...

any one got any travel tips for tahoe and things it would be much appreciated.. ski shuttles, getting from south lake to truckee etc...

well it sounds like you know that sierra and heavenly are the closest to SS Kirkwood is also a sick ass resort. As far a transit from south to north shore your on your own, there might be one or two busses that go every once and a while but you would be better off hitch hiking.

yeah i got some friends at northstar, but i am still screwed for getting from north lake to south lake tahoe.

any more help from peoples

check with all the casinos and hotels, just sit down on the phone and start calling. but seriously, when sierra is rolling with the bashful park and when it dumps, there is no other place you need to be.

Kirkwood has the best big mountain skiing by far. It's got a good layout and gets more snow annually than pretty much any other ski resort. Also, the locals are a lot more laid back than other places in Tahoe. It's not a ski-to-be-seen resort and there are no lift lines. It's my favorite resort in Tahoe by far.

Sierra has a good park and is also laid back. But it's all under treeline, so there's no big mountain stuff.

Heavenly is overrated. Mott's Canyon can be fun and I'm sure they have a good park nowadays, but beyond that, it's all crowded groomers and long-ass traverses.

you can get the emerald bay shuttle from somewhere in south lake (i forget where) to emerald bay then hop on the TART (tahoe area rapid transit) to anywhere in north shore for a couple bucks
