South American Lift Tickets

portillo, i read this thing that they only allow 450 people on the mountain a day, so does that mean its just pricey as fuck or what?

105p/day, so roughly 35 bucks, but you can get discounts if you buy multiple day/week/month passes. And Bariloche's the shit so you'll want to. Las Leñas is around $50/day plus its super expensive to stay there. I'd pick Bariloche any day, especially if you've got touring shit, they have this big network of refuges that you can skin out to and just ski bc for weeks on end.

But if you go to Bariloche make sure you don't go to late into the season. I was there in the end of August and it was already too hot (since Bariloche is quite low compared to Las Lenas, Portillo, Valle Nevado ect). So even though it snowed a lot it was too wet. Should have been really good snow earlier in August though...

it depends on the exchange rate but here in Chile at the beggining of the season it was like 65 dollars and now it would be like 40

that's right, i'm from bariloche. is cheaper than las lenas or any resort in chile and has a lot more of things to do besides skiing, specially the party! hostels are good and cheap, food as well, las lenas is way to expensive and if u have bad luck with the weather u are stuck.

chile is awsome but expensive compared to argentina.

barilloche (if i spelled it right) and Cerro Cathedral is my plan for next summer, taking spanish after a 5 year hiatus and reading and saving up, i hope it works out. the other responses have more validity than mine but, i am under the assumption that the Argentinian exchange rate is a bit better
