Sound&Light by Kevin Steen

flat tre was so fucking big man. you guys did something really cool here.
on a separate note, this shouldn't have been released so late, if the reason was to protect gunnie season sales. this was the best commercial for gunnie season ever. i'ma buy that shit right away.

That BC jump s bananas. Huge. Fucking huge.
The riding was great. SLC scene is on it. I can't comprehend how people can through b270s out of urban downs when going that fast and still make it look completely natural.

The cinematography was on point. You definitely have some skill Keven. I enjoyed those shots. The colour correction was great. Everything popped and all the shots shared similar colour levels.
I thought the narration was cheesy. The edit seemed fun; buds skiing together. But the narration tried to make the skiing something bigger. It's just skiing dudes.

fist off, I'm not sure if you've ever met any of these guys, or been around a group that is as dedicated as 4bi9, but i dont think any single person involved with the company would ever say "its just skiing." I'm not trying to discredit other individuals passion for the sport, but being this involved and having your live completely enveloped with what we do is what separates the men from the boys.

This short-film was made for an action sports film festival, where hundreds of other films were being played of all different backrounds and sports. I think it was a fairly important aspect to what this short-film brought to the table for NFFTY.

agreed, the intro narrative was essential for the film festival, but yea it did kinda sound a lil cheesy like the dumont soft voice intro for team america. super awesome edit tho.

he is neither of those two people

narration was definitely too cheesy...and I know for a fact that some of these guys WOULD say "it's just skiing". because really, that's all it is is. jumping around on wooden planks on snow, I'm surprised people outside the sport are interested in it at all lol

but in any case, this was really really really sick, I didn't enjoy a couple of the music selections but that's personal preference. nice work mr. steen, I look forward to watching your edits in the future.

are you retarded? that narration was so on point.
"skiing to me is about spending time in the outdoors with friends, pushing ourselves and the limits or sport."- last line of narration.

that narration was 20 times better than any bullshit Poor Boyz has ever put together about how "epic" they are.

wow, another intelligent poster in this thread. Collins said Kevin was his favorite filmer, so I asked Kevin v. AJ?
and ill quote it again....
"skiing to me is about spending time in the outdoors with friends, pushing ourselves and the limits or sport."- last line of narration.

sorry, I misinterpreted it. shouldn't have answered your question in the first place I guess, no need to be a dick about it though. and I still think that it's cheesy. my opinion.

You obviously don't understand how to make a short film. He won the NFFTY film festival for a reason, everything was so on point.

lol I don't care to learn how to make a short film either. I'm simply stating my perspective, this was posted on an online forum I'm assuming to get feedback or to present it. I enjoyed it thoroughly as I stated. If this were presented to people who weren't skiers then the narration works, obviously.

Thanks for all the feedback guys:) haha I had a feeling that the narration would be brought up in here, we are an extremely core group on newschoolers and why we chose to ski and take risks needs no explanation. But, with taking this to a venue such as NFFTY, I felt I at least had to try to explain what we do to a broader audience. It did come together as a slightly sappy result, but trying to lace meaning within an action sports film usually does. Take from it what you will and thanks again!

I thought the narration was well written and very relevant, although steve's voice had a somewhat monotonous and bland tone which in my mind was the only factor that made it sound "cheesy". Amazing work though, very enjoyable to watch.
