Loved the edits, one of my first skiing videos ever watch was your PC one from 2-3 years back that has " Z-Trip - Breakfast Club "

Liked for sure.

Website costs money (for a legit one, I think) and honestly I don't know how to do that.
I feel like blogs are best for photographers, and a lot of people don't read them.
Facebook is an easy way to keep people updated (everyone is always on Facebook already). It's just an easy and effective tool to get your work out there.
Stop trying to go against the grain man, it's getting real old.

There have just been like 4 threads of people self promoting their facebook page, which i think is weak.

How is that weak dude? Self-promotion is how you become successful. People who don't believe in self-promotion become shitty independent filmmakers. People who promote themselves get exposure and are much more likely to become successful.
Self-promotion is a key to success, especially in filmmaking.

Amen! going through film school here in portland Its very hard to find connections because they call it the underground city of film. you cant just stumble upon a successful film production company here, and not to mention even think about getting picked up by someone. Get your name, annoy people with threads, get a large group of followers and pretty soon enough people will be talking about your talent it might just get passed through to someone looking for a film maker.

exactly.
i know we all like to think that we're unique but talented filmmakers are literally a dime a dozen. companies aren't looking so much for talent, but more for somebody who will try. If you're talented but you just think that someday a major company will realize how great your films are, you're wrong. sure that happens occasionally, but only to the extremely talented and the extremely lucky.
Production companies want somebody who is confident and who will actually put forth the effort to become successful. Being assertive and competent > being talented but waiting for somebody to find you instead of putting yourself out there

A major company isn't going to find you on NS, just saying.

I believe that if you make good edits, people will see, posting tons of threads shoving edits down peoples throats doesn't seem right to me. At least you do it in media & arts, not ski gabber.

Yea I agree shoving edits and such down people throats is a bit assertive. just saying "hey check this shit out,let me know what you think" I dont mind that, If you want to check it out then by all means go scope the work. (Talking yourself up is a whole other level)

^^ Poor Boyz, TGR, Rage. Those companies are fairly big and if you happen to been seen by them and blow there minds , potential they will say something/help you out/ anything along those lines. It rarely happens but you never know.

(Pretty sure Rage is doing commercials, music videos, etc.)

no shit dude. but i'm trying to get as big a following as i can. i'm saying the principle is the same. and i know you know that's what i'm getting at, but you just want to keep arguing.
i'm going to film school, that's how i'm trying to become part of a production company. i'm going to try to get internships with companies and start building my network early. that's how you get in.
