ive started working out alot lately and it takes like 2 days for my muscles to not be sore any ideas on how to speed up recovery???? ive been taking ibeprophen(sp) before bed and drinking protein shakes to trey to rcover but thats not working.

have you just recently started working out. if so then that's why. you're muscles are pretty sore in the beginning

Never use those.

Use cold and heat therapy. Cold for 5 minutes, open for 15, the heat for 5. wait 10 minutes and restart the process about three times. Rest lots and drink alot of water.

ok, first of all stop taking ibprophen(sp) because that wont do anytinh to help your muscle, just help with the burn. another thing is that you shouldn tbe working out one partr of your body everyday. if you do this you will keep breaking down the muscle but not giving it time to grow back. therefore you can only work one body group a day. example, i do upperbody (arms, shoulders) day 1, core/middle (abs) day 2, and lower body (thighs, calfs)day 3. then an easy run on day 4. then i start over.

about the protien drink and stuff i drink that too. you can either drink a while before, or right after. i prefer after. for your sore muscles you should take AMINO ACID TABLETS. you can get those at a gym, GNC, or go to your doctor. it says to take like 6 a day but you only need 2, when you wake up and go to bed(a third one if you want at lunch)

that what i do and it works for me but remember not to over work your muscles.

ice baths will solve all your problems.

to delay muscle soreness after a workout make sure you cool down after the workout! ride a bike or run for 5 or more minutes easy.

Then after that then altenate from cold to hot water.

one minute in cold then 30 seconds in hot and do that like 5 times.

trust me it sucks at the time but you fell great after the workout.

Just drink a lot of water. After a couple of weeks, your body will get used to it. I only get sore now if i lift hard, after missign a week or two of lifting. Also, stretch a lot. Before and after workouts. That will reduce lactic acid build up, which causes the soreness

if you just started working out they will be sore for about a week or 2. after this you will never be sore again after working out. take it from someone who knows.

oh yea, and stop being a pussy and taking ibuprofien and protein shakes. protein shakes are crap...said so in my moms nutrition action magazine (no i didnt read it my mom mentioned it cause she used to drink them).

core should be done every day. its designed to be in use 24/7 and takes far less time to recover than the rest of your muscles.

yes protein shakes are shit.

I laugh at all the gym buffs taking them

They wont make you any bigger, and the only reason to use them is if you use large amounts of energy and lift REALLY HEAVY weight. Not just doing a gym circuit.

you're not supposed to be working the same muscles every couple of days anyways. ask any giant buff ass dude.. his weekly routine would be something along the lines of:-

Monday - Chest/Triceps

Tuesday - Legs

Wednesday - off

Thursday - Shoulders

Friday - Back/Biceps

Saturday - off

Sunday - off

only noobs run around trying to do everything in one work out. there's no trick to putting on muscle dude. it takes time, pushing your limits, and consistency. get into a routine like the one above and stick to it for at least 6 months, straight.

and to improve with the stiffness, make sure you stretch well at the end of every work out. another good idea is to ride the bike for a cool down, especially after working legs.
